Just had 2 co-workers buy M&P Sports. They just wanted a 5.56 capable plinker. One already has a cheapo rail, optic and other parts from people I'd never heard of. It blows up tannerite and makes him feel cool.

The other wants it for a HD/ SHTF gun. I tried to talk him out of it but he doesn't want to spend more than that.

I try to guide as best I can. Eventually I will stop trying to push people to decent gear and just let them buy mediocre toys.

Colt OEM. You can't beat the quality for the money.

I have to try at the beginning. The trick is knowing when to give up.

You've been lurking here on m4c and these are the options you're considering? Well OK... The Colt 6920 or 6720 at G&R tactical is a foolproof option. you could also part together a BCM upper and lower for a little bit more money.

My apologies, didn't realize I'd be hassled for mentioning a cheaper gun....

When I said "lurking in this forum or awhile" I meant that I've been visiting this site since I decided my next firearm purchase was going to be an AR-15

I think I'm going to go with the Colt. Waiting for a deal like the one on G&R. Currently out of stock

You're not being hassled. its just hard to see how anyone who has spent any time on this forum would include any of your original choices - especially at the price point you mentioned. You will not regret buying the Colt.

I have been scooping up colts for about $700 for the last month. Stashing them away for later. 6920s are dirt cheap right now.

So solid advice is being "hassled"? Hey spend as little as you want and get whatever POS you can get.

No not at all. I came here looking for advice, and I got great feedback. That's all I can ask for from people that have owned and shot virtually everything out there. I mentioned that I wanted an assembled gun, and the ones I suggested were just a couple that met the criteria. I didn't find a Colt in stock anywhere for under $1000.
