Looking for recommendations. The last time I used an Aimpoint the dot looked like a comma. Are any of the newer red dots better for people with an astigmatism?
Thanks,

I have found that for me if I use a lower 1/3 mount and leave the irons up, I can see a more precise dot. So for in close I just use the dot in it's normal distorted fashion, and for more precision I put the dot on the tip of the front sight.

Looking through the small aperture helps clean the dot up for me on distance shots. Just went from an Aimpoint PRO to a Trijicon MRO and I'm interested to see if there's a difference once I get to an outdoor range.
Really stupid question but I have to ask, does looking through the rear aperture shift zero at all with an Aimpoint or similar red dot ? I notice the dot is almost perfect when looking at it through the rear sight. The dot does sit on top of the front sight post so I assume there should be no shift.
No shift.
The best red dot I've found for my vision is the Eotech. Unfortunately they're not doing so hot right now.

Chances are any/all red dots will display this problem no matter which red dot you get, due to your astigmatism. Your best bet, barring corrective surgery or lenses, is to get an etched reticle optic (either 1x or low power variable such as 1-4x) with an adjustable ocular diopter and forgetting about cowitness.
I am personally very pleased with the Vortex Spitfire 1x. It can be had for around $199 if you search a bit (Sportsman's Warehouse as of this posting). Also, American Defense Manufacturing makes a dedicated QD mount for it as well.
Great ideas, but I should have said it's not going on an AR but a PS90.

I would imagine the same regarding the MRO. You might want to read the thread here about it as well to discover it's problems.
Regarding etched reticle optics, basically any traditional scope as well as prism scopes will have etched reticles and an adustable ocular diopter.
For true straight 1x, Vortex, Leupold and Burris are the only options that I can think of at the moment.
If you can live with a bit of fixed magnification and want something reminiscent of the ACOG, Primary Arms has a 2.5x power prism scope with a pretty neat reticle. Vortex, Burris and many others make fixed 3x ones as well.
Otherwise, as previously stated, low power variable traditional rifle scopes in the 1-whatever or 2-whatever magnification range are also an option.
