Stripped Lower Receivers - is there really a difference with any of them?

Some cost $48, some cost $300. For an ar-15 build chambered for 5.56 NATO, is there really a difference in a $48 Anderson stripped lower vs a $100 or $300 Spikes or Aero stripped lower? Are there really differences in performance and build between a forged and a milled? Is there a durability difference? Why don't I just drop a Giessele SSA in an Anderson lower and top it off with an LMT upper? Will there be a shred of difference if I spend the extra $200 or so for a complete LMT lower or other "high quality" lower vs an Anderson fit with a fancy trigger and grip?

    I'll get the popcorn out!

In all seriousness OP, I'd try breaking the questions down by numbers or something so we an tackle them one by one as a simple "yes" or "no" won't do for these questions.

For a stripped lower as long as it's a 7075 forged casting, AND assembles correctly you should be good to go.

It's one of those things that's easy..... Until it isn't. When it isn't is where the manufacture makes a difference as some have amazing customer service and others will turn you into another brands fanboy before next Wednesday. For me personally I don't build enough guns (two too date) that a few dollars here or there will persuade me to go through the process of ordering online and having them shipped to a local FFL. I just buy whatever my local FFL has on hand that will suit my needs. That way if I do have any issues I don't need to call anyone and wait for anything to get fixed: I would simply drive my unhappy self back to their front door and if they are good will resolve it usually the same day.

Anderson has a reputation for occasional QC issues—not unacceptable, but not 100%. Once you get up to Aero or Spikes, my impression is there's no functional difference, and you shouldn't have any issues with assembly. Higher price points offer features (integrated trigger guard, milling, whatever) that you may or may not care about, and people can get super passionate about this.

    Not my thing.

Short answer is yes, there can be differences even in forged lowers depending on brand. I have seen it in the ones i own.

Will try to go into more detail once i am home.
That said, if it from a reputable manufacturer you should be fine but you could run into headaches with small fitment issues. Again once i home ill go into better detail.

Some are in spec dimensionally and some are not. That's really the biggest difference you need to be concerned with from a functionality standpoint...

Where'd you get those numbers from?

aero and spikes lowers typically hover around the 100 dollar range for forged, and I am guessing he was referring to the spikes billet lowers like the hellbreaker or warthog lowers that hover around the 300 range. Just my guess

Not directed at me, nor would I pay that money for these brands but to answer your question:

    Certainly billet vs forged.
