Very good list for assembling your AR. I do call BS on the pivot pin installation tool. What fun is it for a build to go smooth. Some of my best times have been spent looking for that F'n pin and spring...

Personally think people who own AR's should learn more than the basics and get the tools to make any and all repairs. Especially after seeing some of the botched gunmithing jobs I have seen and fixed.

Hey, you folks are a great help. Much of the supplies suggested I already have, but those suggestions on the M4 specific are really helpful. Appears I do need to stock up on whiskey and cigars though.
Iraqgunz: I do agree with you, I don't hesitate to take any of my guns apart and work on them. I just have no experience with the M4 type rifles.
Merry Christ mas to you all and thanks again.

Golfer may I with humbleness correct you so in the future you will say you were warned,O.K. I hope I am not being too harsh. Here we go, no one owns just 1 AR, You will accumulate spare parts and at least a few spare bolts. Then for some reason the spare parts will somehow become assembled into an AR lower for which an upper that will make life complete be purchased or assembled. That will leave no spare parts which will have to be repurchased in double or triple inventory amounts just so there will be enough spares if again the spare parts assemble themselves into another complete lower. This is not a good thing! But have fun with the AR and enjoy. It doesn't take much in the way of tools etc the AR is a great design probably one of the best ever.,

SteveS: It is with great regret that I read your thread. Apparently my addiction has not left me. Now that you guys got me started on another hobby/addiction journey it appears I am forever condemned. Thanks for the warning, but alas, I'm afraid it is too late. I should never have bought that rifle 40 years ago.
    Best to you.
