Looks like Canada is going M-Lok...new Colt Canada MMR just got revealed

So Canada has a deal with Colt Canada to build all the rifles for the DoD; Colt Canada used to be called Diemaco and they were a tool and die outfit but got talked into building AR-type rifles years back and now they're a private company that's also a quasi-government agency...strange setup.

But they build awesome rifles. KAC used to use their barrels, although I don't think they do anymore. The C8 (our version of the M4) is in service in a few different countries; the IUR which is a monolithic upper is used by the Danes IIRC; I think the RCMP have some involvement with it as well. It's a superbly accurate upper, anyway.

So anyway, the next generation of IUR was revealed today and it's all M-Lok'd up.

That's pretty interesting. I work for the magazine that released this information today and I hadn't heard of it until after the article was published, and I know we were the first people to have public domain images, so it's sure been kept under wraps.

It's also interesting that they went with M-Lok because Colt Canada has traditionally ignored expenses when building rifles. The furniture they use on Canadian issue rifles costs a small fortune because it's a proprietary material and texture that won't freeze to your beard in -50, for example. They're a strange outfit because they never wanted to build rifles in the first place, and basically dictated all the terms to the CDN gov...including things like "unit cost will be some ungodly number because we are going to overkill every possible aspect of this gun".

So yeah, I really am surprised that they referenced manufacturing cost on Keymod. That's not the kind of thing they usually care about at all.
Full disclosure: I'm the editor of Calibre Magazine, which is Canada's gun magazine. In the past I've done consulting work for different manufacturers and OEM suppliers, but not currently. M4C's disclosure policy doesn't seem to cover me but we do have advertisers, although I don't handle that side of things and in general I do not know who is paying us at any given time.

Colt is really doing great things lately. Is there a chance that we could ever see this offering in the U.S.?

    I like it.

Why would they not put MLOK @ 0100/1100?

Two pretty different companies with a bit of sharing and crossover...I'm unfortunately guessing not but you never know.

Got your reply. I thought they were mlok until I looked closer. Odd. Otherwise interesting development.

looks like a monolithic upper and that little cutout was needed for the gas tube roll pin. I dont think adjustable gas block personally.

I may be wrong, but from what I understand Canadians are not totally head over heels with sticking stuff all over their guns. When I was in A'stan the ones I saw were pretty mundane.

More pics have made it into the wild. Digging the integrally suppressed 300blk...
