Colt should just copy Colt Canada's stuff. How likely is it that we could get our hands on an IUR?

I'm really not sure but the IUR uppers use a 15.7" barrel so I'd guess that importing one would be difficult?
Great uppers though. I got one of the Danish contract overrun ones as a performance bonus a couple of months ago.
Full disclosure: I'm the editor of Calibre Magazine, which is Canada's gun magazine. In the past I've done consulting work for different manufacturers and OEM suppliers, but not currently. M4C's disclosure policy doesn't seem to cover me but we do have advertisers, although I don't handle that side of things and in general I do not know who is paying us at any given time.
Who is your employer? I could be motivated to perform for that kind of compensation.
Yes, Colt Canada and Colt Advanced Systems did the attachment system testing this year, including mounting optics, and it's all M-LOK moving forward. You'll see that on Canadian rifles, and they also are the Colt export source for NATO and other allies, so you may see a significant amount of M-LOK floating around internationally as well as domestically. The SWORD system of advanced battlefield information management that just got the nod for continuing development from both the USArmy and USMC is also going to be all M-LOK.
Colt Canada is doing some awesome things, and I believe you'll see some of the same reflected in Hartford.

That's good to hear- both the M-LOK news and the hint of some innovation coming out of Hartford.

How is the barrel nut accessed on the IUR? I looked around online a bit and could not find any info. It appears that the fore end of the upper is all one piece, unlike the 6940. I'm imagining a long tubular barrel nut wrench that you slide down the fore end.

You'll also have to forgive the other mags in the guns...The GEN M3 PMAGs didn't make it through export in time for the show at which these photos were taken, but all of the rifles will ship with GEN M3 PMAGs, and that's what you'll see at SHOT.

This is good news. Hopefully military acceptance begins to weed out the multiple standards we have right now with Keymod, MLOK, picatinny, and all the other minor ones that attach with screws and the like.
Of them, MLOK is definitely the superior option, so I'm glad to see that the market is beginning to shift that way. Sad news is all my Keymod handguards will need to go someday, but oh well.
