The SWORD system of advanced battlefield information management that just got the nod for continuing development from both the USArmy and USMC is also going to be all M-LOK.

Colt Canada is doing some awesome things, and I believe you'll see some of the same reflected in Hartford.
Magpul (Duane) - is the Magpul furniture shown on these rifles the same stuff that us US civilians buy, or did it have to be changed in any way such as polymer material, thickness or texture, for Canadian use? I ask because I'm in a climate that's as cold as much of Canada and I always wonder about plastic durability at sub-0 temperatures.

It would be really nice if the VHS vs. Betamax war of negative space setups would end. My dollars have voted MLOK, for various reasons, among them thinking that Geissele / ALG Defense is a pretty good independent judge of which system makes more sense.

BCM and Daniel Defense need to offer their handguards in MLOK versions.

Picatinny rail setups are likely to stay around for optics mounting locations, as they offer a very solid recoil lug and much tighter spacing of adjustment increments than either MLOK or Keymod.

    That looks pretty practical.

Also does the Canadian military still use Thermolds or have they gone Pmag?

Colt Canada has made the switch to providing all rifles with GEN M3 PMAGs, but to what extent that has become programmatic for Canadian Forces, I'll have to check.

The furniture is exactly the same. We test our stuff down to -60 and up to 180 with multi-axis drop testing guided by TOP 03-02-045. It would be far easier to just do room temperature stuff, because in reality, the common 1.5m NATO tests are all room temp, but room temperature performance is a lie. You can get away with a lot of stuff with making a stock that performs great at room temp, and material selection for cold wx drops can actually hurt room temperature performance, in some cases, but many of the reinforcement and base resin types that can work well at room temps EXPLODE below freezing.

There's always an impact angle or condition that can miraculously find a weak spot on a knit line or whatever...but we work very hard to ensure cold wx performance of all our kit.

As we all know, KeyMod took off because it was basically just given out to everyone from the developers. MLOK came out later and now that Colt Canada has taken hold of it, I suspect that will become the industry standard other than M1913 rails.

Tend to agree...they build good stuff.
Full disclosure: I'm the editor of Calibre Magazine, which is Canada's gun magazine. In the past I've done consulting work for different manufacturers and OEM suppliers, but not currently. M4C's disclosure policy doesn't seem to cover me but we do have advertisers, although I don't handle that side of things and in general I do not know who is paying us at any given time.

Given the choice, I'd rather buy a Colt Canada rifle. All the TDP goodness, but way more innovative.

Have you noticed the metal inserts they put in the upper receiver for the charging handle latch. Details like this scream quality.

Along with the M-Lok FirstSpear rail on the Colt mid-length photos floating around looks like Colt is all in. This makes me happy as Keymod never turned my crank.
