    11.5 BCM Purchase - Need Help/Expertise

I've used the search function, and read (and read and read) and for the most part have my choice for my first SBR build to a BCM 11.5" - thank you all, and this forum, for all the great information. However, I am wondering if this particular BCM that is in stock will make me happy.

    http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-1...w-kmr-a-10.htm

Rifle uses: I am a casual shooter/plinker, and intend on taking a carbine class locally in the next 12 months and probably more after that in the coming years. I will NOT run my gun thousands and thousands of rounds per year in the near future due to having small children and a job that requires lots of travel (most extra time is spent with my family). Oh, and rifle will run mainly suppressed.

Why am I questioning this particular upper? It's in stock which means you all didn't buy all of them out . Truly it's that simple.

    Thanks all!

Other than NFA concerns, which I assumed you have already addressed, I cannot see any reason you would not be happy with it.

Depends on the suppressor, I don't like running heavy suppressors on lightweight profile barrels... But that's just my opinion, I have no technical data to back this up.

A lot of money for a rifle that won't be used too often. Between the suppressor and the tax stamp, just curious as to why an 11.5" over a standard M4 or Mid? Done and done.

Is it the look? Bragging rights? Just curious

You will be quite happy with this upper. The deal with a BCG can't be beat either. This is the ELW barrel and the way it is tapered, an added suppressor is a non issue. I run a can on a 14.5 ELW barrel often.

I run that barrel and the regular KMR handguard. It's a really slick setup, and with a short can it is the same overall length as a 16" carbine. It shoots far more accurately than I expected, and POI shift is very minimal when I put on a YHM ULT.

Genuine inquiry: any data to support that?

I run this 11.5 upper in the fluted/non alpha version suppressed 99% of the time. Accurate, light weight, slim, runs great suppressed. Mine doesn't like weak 223 unsuppressed.....You'll dig it.

Why ask why. Perhaps the OP makes it rain with commas. Maybe it's "a lot of money to some", but not the OP and others. Maybe he doesn't want to hang a can off a 16" gun. Maybe it's his home defense rifle and he wants maneuverability. Why ask why

I purchased that set up (but with the KMR instead of the KMR-A) and it is awesome. For me it is the perfect 5.56 SBR.

The ELW barrels are tapered similar to a bolt gun barrel. Thicker at the chamber and a gradual step down in a cone shape. Unlike standard AR barrels that are profiled thin and then thick and than thin again.
There will obviously be POI shift as with any barrel but the barrel itself is more rigid than standard profiles.
