Sig P227 - Anyone liking it?

What kind of velocity is the 320 Carry 3.9" barrel getting 230 grain self defense/duty loads up to? I like my .45's to have a 4.25" barrel at least.

I have a glock 30 and have most 230 grain loads (HST, Gold Dots, and Rangers) and they generally shoot at about 790-820 fps. I would figure the P320 Carry would be right in that range as well.

My three inch Kimber CDP Ultra pushed a 230gr speer gold dot out at about 760 to -800 fps.

Yep. Owned both until about a month ago. From a bench I found the P227 had a slight edge in accuracy. Overall handling I found both about equal. I found the HK45 wouldn't feed Critical Duty ammo at all reliably, the SIG wasn't so picky. No problems in either pistol with HST, Gold Dot, or Golden Saber, etc.
In the end, after about 2K fired, I came to the conclusion I really hated both pistols equally but for different reasons, all personal preference.

Just curious what you hated about the P227? What did you prefer to use instead?

The factory E2 grips worked loose after 500rnds and had a lot of movement to the point I could feel it under recoil. Tried refitting the grip unit several times to no avail. Also didn't really like the overall handle shape after awhile. Switched to Hogue G10 grips and while they helped a bit, the pistol still didn't feel "right" for me. I used the P220/226 almost exclusively for near 15yrs with a few excurisons into striker fired territory, and the P227 handle was just different enough to not make me love it the way I do other SIGs.
I also prefer the USP45 over the HK45 for a few similar reasons.

Thanks for the info. I also have been using the P226 for a number of years. I've carried they P220 too, but found the elongated grip to be long enough for my hand size to prevent me from reaching my full potential. The 9/40/357 sized grip in the P226/P228/P229 was just right for me.

I learned that Sig has discontinued the P227 as of February 2019. Sad news as Sig seems to be dropping some great pistols, P227 and P239. The world wants striker fired handguns but some of us still love the metal framed DA/SA classic Sigs.

I am a fan of the P227. I found that wolf springs in the 14 round magazines really enhanced reliability for me.
