    Leupold Mark AR Line?

Anyone have any experience with the Leupold Mark AR line, positive or negative? I'm specifically interested in the Mod-1 1.5-4x20mm with the SPR FireDot Reticle. I'd be putting it on a 10.5" 300 BLK build that I just finished putting together for hogs and deer.

My other optics are mostly Aimpoints and I have one Trijicon Accupoint TR24G 1-4x, which I love, but looks like I can pick up one of the Mark AR's with a mount for half the price of my Accupoint, so I was wondering if it was worth considering. The reviews on Amazon are pretty positive, but I trust M4C members more 😉

I did a search and the only threads I could come up with were ones for sale in the EE.

It will work for your purposes. They are cheap Leupolds. IIRC, they are made in China. They certainly won't get any positive press on SH but I have found them to be a decent scope for the money.

If you are using it for hogs and deer, your only problem will be in low light conditions. The firedot reticle will help, but they don't transmit as much light as a bigger more expensive scope (obviously)
Why do the loudest do the least?

I've got one and have been pretty happy with it. As long as your expectations of it are in line with the price, you'll be alright. The brightness settings work well and it will be bright enough for full daylight.

There's a big thread on 1-4x variable optics and you'll find more info there.

I have two of them, a 3x9x40 Mildot recticle, and a 1.5x4x24 SPR recticle (not Firedot), and they've both held up very well for me. I've put a bunch of rounds downrange with them, and I've never had any zero problems. Glass is pretty clear for a budget scope too. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Thanks for the replies guys. I found a good deal on a T2 and decided to go ahead and stick with what I know.

I had a Mark AR one time trying to build an SPR or DMR.
It is good for my novice shooting skills amd pretend GI Joe fantasy. However, as a consumer I feel like I am not getting the full Leupold Treatment.

I feel like the Mark AR line is like the DX base models of Honda. It gets the job done, high qualoty, and reliable. But there is something basic about it. I guess that is the philosophy of the Mark AR line.

Would buy again, however, on a budget.

Probably because the one he bought isn't the Patrol/SPR.
