    My agenda is to acquire an 11.5" barrel for a Geissele 10" Mk4 'Federal' SMR. I don't want an overgassed barrel.

    It seems to me that, given that Colt uses a ~0.070" gas port on their 11.5" barrels; and,
    Given that there are multiple reports of the RGP barrels with their ~0.070" gas ports running just fine with PMC Bronze and Wolf Gold (the least expensive ammo I'm likely to run out of the gun) - and no reports contrariwise;
    MarkM is correct that RGP should stand for, "Right Gas Port."

    ...And after I wrote all that, then I re-read my first post in this thread, and my sleepless mind last night typed, "isn't," where I meant to type, "is." Oops!

    I meant they must be great barrels because they must be great. No sarcasm. I wrote, "fair enough," because it seems fair enough to me that y'all make barrels that sell (the standard, larger gas port barrels), while the barrels that the cognoscenti prefer, which are the barrels that not everybody understands or wants, are therefore a limited production barrel.

    My apologies for the misunderstanding.

    Sometimes the internet reads stranger than real life. With that said, we have several large agencies running these and I don't think you will be disappointed.

    Is there a recommended (read ideal) buffer system for the Sionics RGP barrel; specifically suppressed full time. I see the complete uppers on their site come with blue SpringCo and H1. I’m assembling a new SBR Lower and have carbine and A5 REs, blue and green SpringCo springs, and all weights standard and A5 buffers on hand. I’ve read a ton and see many people running various combinations. I can certainly do some testing myself...but if there’s a consensus at this point, I’ll start there, since I’m building from scratch. Thanks, all. I’ve been anticipating this project for years. I picked up an AAC SDN-6 for $200 locally and will likely run it (or my Omega) full time.

    Everyone has a different version of ideal. With that said you can run the A5H4 with green Sprinco and you should have no issues.

    The usual advice I see (and give) is to start with the A5H2 and bump up to the A5H3 or A5H4 if necessary. I don't know of a reason to ever do the carbine RE over the A5 system.
