    Daniel Defense upper

I am seeing some DD upper set ups available the 5 or 600 dollar range and they appear to be the same/similar to those that cost 1200.00. Can anyone suggest to me if there are differences that I could tell? Here is an example: https://www.westernsport.com/product...-0-rail-ws-18/.
I do no have enough knowledge/experience to understand what might be missing or why it is so much less money.
Can anyone give me some help with this?
    Thanks much.

I could be wrong here but it looks as a lot of that websites offering under DD aren't factory options, I would bet they are assembling them and selling the as DD uppers as they are putting them together with DD parts.

The DD assembled uppers have the price you would expect, $900 +.

Western Sport has a relationship with DD as I recall and these are put together for them.

Western Sports sells DD uppers and complete rifles at normal retail prices. They also have limited runs of factory assembled uppers that may or may not be offered directly from DD.

Very interesting, I wonder how you determine what the more expensive ones have that the less expensive do not. Western does not do a very good job of describing them.

Probably not too much difference I would imagine.

The upper is using a barrel and rail that seem to be from bygone days. An 18" rifle gas barrel is popular in some circles, the profile is on the heavy side though. Quad rails seem over the hill too and heavy to boot. But if you like that setup, that's cool.

Thanks guys for your reply's, it's not that I liked the set up so much as understanding if it was the same set up you would normally pay 1100 bucks for as I haven't enough knowledge to know the difference. I wonder if the .75 barrel would be similar to the Colt H bar barrel. I assume it is a plain barrel, not chrome lined and wonder about it's accuracy level. I might give them and DD a call and see if they can help.
I also note that Western says the upper is an A4 vs: the DD website says they us a M4 receiver. Is there a difference?
    Best wishes.
