My biggest thing between the two SWFAs is I like the reticle better in the classic. For someone like me who isn't a precision shooter the BDC type reticle is more functional for my intended use.

I wonder if the 50 yard zero would be close to the center dot if you went with their recommended 100 yard zero on top of the diamond? My brain would have a hard time deviating from the standard "normal" zero in the center of the scope.

Just looked up the 200 yard zero. I think the center dot would be very close to POI at 50 yards if you do their recommended 200 yard zero on the center dot. I like this.

Yes from what I have seen on zeroing with the way the bullet trajectory goes a 50yd zero is equivalent to a 200yd zero if I recall the information that I had recently read correctly.

Which SWFA were you looking at? They have two models, an HD and a classic. If I recall, SWFA uses Japanese glass, which is considered superior to the Filipino glass that Vortex uses (The hierarchy goes German (ELCAN, Swaro, S&B, etc.)->Japanese (Trijicon, SWFA, etc.) -> Filipino (Vortex, et. al.) -> Chinese. There aren't really any US manufacturers.

IMO, SFP is more useful in 1-4x optics. You aren't likely to be ranging or doing dope work on the 1x setting.
That's not how glass works. There are plenty of US glass manufactures and they make some of the best stuff in the world. Where it is made and who it is made by is much less important than HOW it is made and what coatings are used.
