    BCM Blemished Uppers

Hi Everyone! I am a new member and if you did not see my "Hello" post in the new member section.....Hello again.
I did a search and was unable to find any recent reviews on the BCM blemished uppers that are being sold these days. The desrciptions and experiences with them seem to change over time or I would just refer to the last thread that this was discussed.

So, has anyone bought one recently? What did you think? I am not one of those people living the wet dream that the only thing wrong is its missing the "BCM" logo. How is functionality?

Thank You for your time while reading and responding in advance. I look forward to learning a lot here, and hopefully teaching someone something.

Everything made by Bravo Co is gtg IMO. If not they will quickly replace it in my experience.

Cosmetically, the one had the chance to look at recently had a small scratch behind the barrel threads on one side, and near the forward assist on the other side. Overall, the buyer is still very happy for the price, knowing the quality of BCM. From what I remember, the forward assist parts were packaged in another small bag to keep them separate.

Sample size of one, but I would be happy purchasing one. Functionality wise, the build has not been completed yet.

Yes sir. I was trying to get a review from a site that did not sell BCM products though. Nothing against BCM.

That's great news about the minimal cosmetic issues you mentioned Notorious. Little scratches like that do not bother me. I have heard the horrible stories of the barrels not sitting right on the uppers; this is the issue I am trying to investigate specifically. I read the big thread about that issue here but that was a while ago so I am hoping that batch is gone.

thanks for the responses so far.

I have a few. The only blems are scratches, like if you let a rifle fall against a table. Nothing functional, nothing 'out of spec,' just a bit banged up. No big deal.

I bought one during the black Friday sale where they had them for like 20% off.

The one I received has virtually no dry film coating on the inside of the receiver along with no BCM logo.

It's been a couple years, mine had two pen dot sized blemishes in the finish, like fish eyes in auto paint, they were hard to find. And no logo. Just a bit loose on a PSA lower, tight on a RRA. Zero functional issues.

I've used a batch of these to convert carry handle uppers to flattops, most recently a group of Colt 6520s done this winter. They are blems as advertised, with minor cosmetic imperfections. Imagine a box of uppers packed loose together, and what they'd look like when you pull them out. They arrived wrapped separately in packaging paper, unassembled, with the forward assist and ejection port cover and spring in a plastic bag. During installation one had threads that needed chasing from a ding, all others were GTG. The inside diameter mating to the barrel extension is indeed slightly undersized as advertised, and several needed a few taps with a mallet to seat.

With the caveat that they are blems, they are typical BCM quality at a great price. I have more guns to do and will be buying more.

Sidenote: Following conversion, all guns were within two clicks of windage and/or elevation on zero. None required a taller front sight post as experienced on some others in the past.
