Colt's color is blue. Just like Mossberg, Smith & Wesson, and FNH USA.

Look at their competition guns and you'll find that they like to use blue on them. (Mossberg used to have a 930 with a blue stock and handguard, IIRC. The same gun is now sold in a Kryptek Yeti dip. I think the 930JM is offered in black-and-blue. FNH has a trap-and-skeet version of the Winchester 101 - the SC-1 - with black-and-blue laminated stock and handguard. Plus their 3-gun-ready SLP shotgun is black-and-blue. And they had some SCARs with blue receivers and blue trigger housing groups for their three-gun team, although I don't know whether they were anodized and dyed that color or cerakoted - they appear to have been one-offs, in any event. Red is used by Benelli, H&K, and Noveske and is in evidence on the Benelli Custom Shop race-ready M2 and I remember Geissele posting a photo of red HK416 SMRs made for H&K's three-gun team. I seem to also recall seeing Noveske's three-gun team rocking red cerakoted N4 GenIIIs.)

Sort of like how Dodge Vipers are (or were) available in white with blue stripes and blue with white stripes (the national racing colors of the US). But less homage to the past, more about looking cool and race gun-y now.

They are VZ grips if I am not mistaken and the Colt name is engraved in them. Pretty cool.

Don't like Blue? Change them out.

The combat unit pistol looks really nice. I like the finish and it just looks high speed low drag. I love my long beach operator but these new colts look great.

Grant have you received any of the M45's in the Ion Bond finish?

It really does. Definitely sets the standard for a fully featured fighting 1911. I do wonder if it uses the M45 frame though. I've heard speculation but nothing confirmed that I know of.

The new combat unit is what is going to finally get me to buy a Colt 1911. It's what the CRG should have been from day one, a black M45 frame with the front strap high cut and checkered. Slide with Novak night sights and national match barrel fit to it. Colt hit a home run with this one!

I actually prefer the prototype with a solid trigger though.

Ditto on solid trigger but not a deal breaker for me.

I see them on Colt's website. Are these 70 or 80 series?
