    I wouldn't just buy a rifle then throw it in the safe. You gotta shoot at least a few mags through it to see if it works. A non-functioning gun in the safe is a waste of space (not to mention money).

    If it's a local deal, meet the guy at a range and fire at least few rounds through it before you agree to buy.

    Update:

    After much more research on the rifle, I decided not to buy it. Too many bad reviews and a caliber that I am totally not set up for.

    I did not want to invest in more mags, mag carriers, bullets, cleaning tools etc.

    I have my AR platform and if I thought the AK round was that much better, I'd have started there. I'm good with sticking to 556 and AR's

    Good move.

    If you do decide to jump into 7.62, which really isn't a bad idea, then get a simple well built AK.

    Remember on the flip side you wouldn't recommend a questionable AR (home built Del Ton for example) to someone as a first AR when better options exist for not much more.
