Flash Hider on DPMS .308 Removal

How is the flash hider on a DPMS .308 barrel held on and how does one remove it? I live in CT where a flash hider is illegal, but a muzzle brake is not. So if I buy a DPMS upper, I'll have to replace the flash hider with a muzzle brake. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I took the flash hider off my LR308AP4 and discovered it was loc-tited on.Took some heat to loosen it.
