The trolling part is asking how you can spend 4x the amount needed to meet your requirements, simple as that.

You don't want what everyone else has - that's cool, grab something from Rainier, Noveske, Hodge, BCM (I've met one person where I live that knew what they were - it's not like M4C at the range...), LMT, Vltor, etc, and throw on an optic. Put the Aimpoint on the SBR from the other thread, throw a good 1-6, 1-8, or 2.5-10x on the Recce, and enjoy something that cost you 1/3-1/2 of your limit, and that 95%+ of the people you see at the range won't recognize, much less have.

Range Toy is synonymous with plinker, something that will shoot minute of Folgers can at a short(er) distance while being fed cheap ammo. 10k for something to do that is a complete waste.

You want to shoot tiny groups from the bench while at the range? You want to stretch out to 800+ yards at the range?
Get more specific or take my advice from my previous post.

You want to buy a Maserati to drive from the garage, down a 20ft driveway to the mailbox to get the mail and then back into the garage, fantastic, you have every right to. I think it's a retarded waste.

Do you have an accuracy requirement, length requirement, will it be used off a bipod or bags, are you going to actually go past 100 yards or put it through carbine courses. Give some actual use requirements, and we can give you real answers.
As far as defining a Recce I guess I would say the ability to shoot any 5.56x45 ammo through a 16", 1:8 twist, stainless steel, match grade barrel. As well as being able to fire it with or without a suppressor. A carbine length gas system, 15" inch free float hand guard system, firing from a rail mounted bipod. Optics would probably be something like a low variable power Leupold or Nightforce scope.

I want the rifle to be able to perform up to the standards for which it was originally conceived.

You've gotten a lot of good suggestions so far but I can vouch for the Leupold Mk6 1-6x scope being great as a 1-nx scope for long distance. Here's a review I wrote about it:

    http://gunpositive.com/leupold-mk6-1...long-distance/

The setup used in the article weighs 9.2 pounds with no bipod and a 30 round D&H magazine loaded with 77's and 10.0 pounds with a Harris S-BRM 6-9" bipod and 20 round NHMTG magazine loaded with 77's. I feel it's pretty lightweight for its capability as we've gotten pretty good hit ratios to 907 yards with it on full-size torso steel targets using 75gr Hornady BTHP handloads.

This guy spends $8K on his build and no one bats an eye. I said $10K MAXIMUM budget and everyone freaks out.

I don't think it is your question, which I assume is "what have you built for a recce?" and "What is the ultimate recce possible?" Perhaps it is the way you are asking it.
Had you said perhaps left the budget out of it, 10K is easily 2 or perhaps even 3 times what you might need, you might get a more favorable reception.
I see you're rather new here, my advice would be to use the search button a lot on these issues refine your questions to be more exact and pointed and grow a thick skin.
It might also help to do some basic questions in several different sections, perhaps refering to the optics section for specifics and then comming back to refine the over all rifle to optics stuff here.
Of course it is your choice, it just might make things easier for you if you did a bit more research before throwing a broad statement or question out here.

This is a well-specced rifle. But I feel sorry the troll wasted your time.
