Nice, l o n g, thread. I've been carrying appendix on occasion for several years now, after learning about it from Gabe Suarez. There are some wonderful benefits associated with this method of carry, as have been clearly stated many times in this thread.

I've been using a HighNoon Mister Softy holster, which is a good economical choice (and VERY comfortable), but not quite as stiff as I feel might be best for weapons without manual safeties. I don't often carry 1911's much anymore; these days typical carry for me is a G23 or a G30. (I do miss carrying those wonderful bobtailed Commanders!)

Here's my G30 in the High Noon Mister Softy. And as has been mentioned numerous times throughout this thread (it bears repeating!)... reholstering MUST BE DONE with E X T R E M E care!!!!!! It's like riding motorcycles, if you're going to use appendix carry, you've really got to be on top of your game to do this safely!

I really do love this holster... it feels almost like not wearing a holster at all, whcih I much appreciate.

I think High Noon's "Hideaway" is just like the Mister Softy, but stiffer. Likely a very good choice for AC.
And their "Public Secret" model (as mentioned by Bulldog7972) is so popular, that it's a regular stocked item with immediate availability.

I'm a fan of High Noon holsters, having a couple of Mister Softies and a Bare Asset, for different
size Glocks and 1911's. They're really comfortable, unlike the box full of holsters in my closet!

I'm also looking forward to availability of the Shaggy, myself!

The Public Secret is another good one. Even has a slide or body shield. And that clip. All clip on IWB holsters should have a clip like those on High Noon products.

For all you folks who carry AIWB, how do you deal with being unable to bend forward at the waist?

I've tried appendix carry with a regular IWB holster and I find myself unable to bend forward, with the butt of the gun driving itself into my guts.

I realize a proper AIWB holster will improve concealment and comfort otherwise, but I can't imagine this issue being resolved by a holster change. If the gun sits lower, it will dig into the leg; if it's higher, it will dig into the guts when bending.

Do you just accept the inability to bend over, or is it that I am just too short-waisted for any AIWB solution to work? (5'7" 145lb.)

    I don't have any issues bending over. I'm 6'4" 250 though.

Where on the belt do you position the holster? If at 12:00-30 try moving the gun a little further to 1:00-2:00. Appendix position can be a little tricky and just a little adjustment can make a world of difference.

I had all the same concerns before starting to carry appendix. It took actually using Todd's CCC looper with his P30 for a day to convince me that with appendix carry, the right holster is everything. It takes some getting used to without question, but the issues you raised aren't as severe as you might think. Bending forward at the waist isn't really a problem for me as long as the gun is positioned properly. What I've found is that there is a "sweet spot" you have to experiment to find that gives you the maximum comfort. When you find that sweet spot everything is pretty darn comfortable.

Appendix carry will never feel like not carrying a gun, but with the right gear it is comfortable enough to do all day every day.

    Garrity Gun Leather Invictus

I was lucky enough to borrow a friend's (Paul Gomez') Garrity Gun Leather Invictus AIWB rig for a few days. Gomez is not unlike the late, great Hunter S. Thompson. It was said you knew when HST was coming to visit you when you started to receive his mail. Such is the same with Gomez.

Anyway, I was instantly amazed at the workmanship and interesting features of the holster, and I put it on immediately. It has a wedge that sits in front of the holster, behind the belt loop that bends the grip back towards the belly. It also has a ravioli shaped pillow at the back of the holster, that faces the body and further forces the gun into the users belly. I put the holster on, wear it around the house, and then immediately fell asleep on the sofa for about two hours. No comfort issues. Then I wore it about town, and have been doing so since. It is BY FAR the most comfortable and most expensive AIWB holster I have ever used. In comparison to others, I would say that it makes AIWB with a Glock 19 feel like AIWB with a j-frame.

Just as an aside, it's great to see all of the success (and struggle) that other folks have had with AIWB. I think it is a great way to carry discreetly. I wish it wasn't frowned on by so many square ranges and, "gun," people, but hopefully that changes over the next few years.
