These look to be machining marks. If the weights are according to their published specs and there is nothing wrong with the handguard, I'd say go use it without any concern.

If you still want to get to the bottom of this, call the BCM folks and inquire. Don't forget to let us know of the outcome afterwards.

Your bitchy responses do indicate fairly well that you're not happy with what people are posting so we do get that, at least.
That wasn't meant for you that was meant for the other guy who didn't read the whole thread

Could be as simple as a way for BCM to mark revision types on the rail.

That would be me. I did read your thread. Even reread it just because I wasn't sure WTF you were asking about. You are obviously a great communicator and I'm just to ignorant to understand - so, we'll leave it at that.

to the right of the star and larger BCM on the rail:
does it say "BCM-KMR-XX" (where XX is length in inches of the rail)?
or does it say "BCM-KMR-AXX" (where XX is length in inches of the rail)?

I haven't seen non-alpha rails in stock for awhile, but hey I'm always wrong so...
The Alpha is not meant to replace the original version is it?

Since we have entered into the realm of total speculation why not contact BCM directly or message them here and ask?
