    Springfield Armory Combat Operator 9mm

I know there are a bunch of other 9mm 1911 threads going on but this is the first I've seen of this model and can't get many details. My LGS has two coming in tomorrow for $1600. The only thing I can find is from Lipsey's but it's not much.

Please disregard. I was thinking "Range Officer" line.

I saw that GrabAGun has a listing for them as well and was wondering the same thing. It looks nice assuming the picture is correct.

I'm trying to figure out what differentiates a combat operator from a regular one. And what makes it about double the price of the new Operator Range Officer.

It's hard to tell in the pic but it seems like front/rear checkering (obvi) and I think the barrel is flush cut / reverse crowned? Plus no FCS. To me that's enough to to 1380 vs. ~1150 for an MC Operator. The front/rear grip pattern on those seems much less secure, although I've not handled one.

Now, would I pay $1300 over $800 for RO? Not sure on that one.

FCS? Nevermind I figured it out... I actually prefer front serrations. And I don't understand why SA doesn't undercut their trigger guards.

I have to agree. I can feel a difference and if Springer would do them to all, my guns would feel the same.

Yea, once you go high cut, there's no going back comfort wise. Same with a Glock.

Has any one actually weighted one?
It is listed at 43oz ( right at the limit ) but the RO operator is at 41. Where did 2 oz go, dont think FCS would remove that much.

I was looking at getting one but i wanted to add a small mag well, and that would put me over if it really weighted 43 oz.

according to the link above, I see tool steel hammer and sear compared to MIM. the gray lower which is probably similar to Armory Kote compared to parkerize finish. no ILS mainspring housing, bar stock extractor compared to MIM with factory production. G10 grips compared to RO wood. Rear U notch sight compared to two dot Novak. oh yeah….did not see the checkering. Two 10 round CMC mags compared to the two factory 9 rounders.

I ordered the regular production RO OP and still waiting as it has been in Processing since Jan 5, 2016.
