What would you say to the guys who shoot with a mix of 20W-50 synthetic oil with gear oil mixes dripping wet in below 0 degree F environments? It may run well at 70F, does that make it okay? I would say not for many reasons, including health concerns.
Unfortunately, lubricants have their own specific attributes. What makes one more or less preferable depends on the required use and proper application of said product.
It's not rocket science or brain surgery, but some things do work better than others, both in product and application. The needs really dictate a preferred operation or function than others in use.
