I've been off the forum for awhile but when did LWrC become "Top Tier"???

The only thing "top" that I remember is the pricing.

OP....not trying to sway your opinion or discredit anything. I just don't remember these being all that great. Go with LMT

Search "LWRC", and read to your hearts content. Search other places on the internet. If you want to find someone saying they are the most awesomest ever, you can find it. If you want to find someone sharing their flaws and short-comings, then you can easily find it. Top price does not equal top quality or "top tier".

LMT, on the other hand, is deployed by foreign military forces, law enforcement, and the general public. You may be able to find users that have had issues, but I bet they were taken care of by LMT. LMT is not a niche company. LMT is well-known for producing quality, dependable, and durable rifles. I really don't know what else needs to be stated.

If more specific details are desired, then put in the time to find what you need to see. I see no need in rehashing the questionable quality of LWRC. There is absolutely no comparison between LMT and LWRC....none. <<period>>

The mrp stainless barrels made by Mike Rock iirc, have shown to be extremely accurate and reliable.

Trident has a lot of info on them posted to this forum.

    My choices would be:

    1) Full ambidextrous (most manufacturers don't understand what that means).
    2) Rather swap uppers than barrels.
    3) Metal treatments.
    4) Easy and simple (don't want to remove a bunch of stuff to clean).

So I'd be looking at POF or similar.

I go LMT WHENEVER POSSIBLE. They make great stuff. I've owned a number of their guns and they have been great. I also like monolithic uppers. I have a Vltor on a 11.5 Noveske SBR, ITS AWESOME.

I also have the Colt 6945 10.3 monolithic. Just a solid set up. I don't own an LMT MONOLITHIC now, but did run a MWS very hard with great results. Enjoy your NEW LMT !

I have both LMT and LWRC products. My LMT is the MWS 308, and my LWRCs are both Six8 A5s (16" and 10.5"). The LMT is overgassed and heavy. I changed the barrel from 16" to 20" so that I could get the longer gas system, which helped. I have no experience with the 5.56 versions, but I hear good things. I am sure they're probably heavier than they need to be, though. My first LWRC has a problem cycling, so I sent it in and got a longer, spiral-fluted barrel and the adjustable gas block so that I could run it suppressed. It's been flawless since I got it back. My second LWRC has been perfect since I got it, and I have two different uppers for it (8.5" and 10.5"). Both LWRC rifles are exceptionally accurate. The LMT is no slouch, either, but the LWRCs are a cut above. Granted, neither of these are 5.56, so take that into consideration.

Just my opinion, but monolithic, one piece uppers make me nervous. It just seems like the upper and rail being all one piece could royally screw you over if something breaks. Just my .02

I have always considered them an inherently superior design

An M6A2 upper was the single worst firearms purchase I have ever made.

I could buy two full Colts today for what I paid for that upper in 2009.

The M6A2 is heavy, has a sharp recoil impulse, is heavy, has a terrible rail, is heavy. You need to replace the op rod spring more often than you need to clean a DI gun. You can keep adding lube to a DI gun (BCM filthy 14) and it will keep going. With the LWRC when the spring fails other proprietary parts will fall off your gun. It will not cycle, you can't just keep adding lube to a LWRC.

But thats small stuff, my real issue was the constant failure to feed and shaving of brass this gun suffered. I sent it back to LWRC, its still the same turd.

At that time I contemplated the LMT monolithic upper, wish I'd gone that route, though its still super heavy. Shortly after this purchase the KAC SR15 E3 came out, this is what I should have waited for. I have an SR15 upper now and love it.

I bought into the piston BS, it cost me 2k$+ by the time I was done dicking around to figure out the piston deal was Hype and BS.

Some consider them an inherently inferior design, or at least the pros don't exceed the cons. I have a Colt 6940 which was my best choice among a limited choice at the time for an AR. I have no complaints at all but not sure I'd get another monolithic now that I have access to more choices and brands. My understanding is the accuracy improvements compared to a properly set up non mono design is minimal at best.
