Food for search engines.
A Geissele MK II SMR will not fit a LaRue Stealth upper; the larger ejection port door mount interferes where the rail slides over the upper receiver. An AAC 51t mount will fit through the inside of the MKII.
Those gas blocks just scored a big win with me! Love the fact that you can use the block itself as a jig to drill your own pin hole.

Does anyone know if the new aluminum barrel nut will be offered with the old standard SMR? Any idea on the weight savings comparing the two?
The luxury of freedom was not free.
That new MK4 rail is very cool looking, a lot of features, and lightweight. I think this is the rail I am going to use for my new build...
Really great questions, and the barrel nut compatibility one has been my biggest curiosity. I just asked GA, and instantly got answers back
I expected for the MK4 barrel nut to only fit the MK4 rail....and then the MK1/MK2 barrel nut to only fit the MK1/MK2 rails.
Some may have seen the video update I posted a number of pages back where I went from the MK1 to the MK2 rail in about 5mins time. That is a really advantageous feature for two reasons. First reason is it allows end users to have multiple rails with different configs. that can be interchanged and indexed perfectly back and forth on the fly. Secondly for hard end users out in the field, it allows a potentially damaged or bent rail to be replaced without tools, and without really any effort.
So with that said, great news........you can take one upper with either the new LW geissele barrel nut that comes with the MK4, or you can take one upper with the older heavier geissele barrel nut that comes with the MK1/MK2 models and literally go from a MK1 rail....to a MK2 rail.....to a MK4 rail all within say 5-10mins, and essentially without any real tools. The future uses for this very unique design should be quite significant.
Weight comparisons b/t the older MK1/MK2 barrel nut VS. the new lightweight MK4 barrel nut :
MK1/MK2 barrel nut: 3.52 OZ.
MK4 barrel nut: 1.26 OZ.
Significant weight difference b/t the two..even though I've never cared much about +/- 2ozs.
The weight differences between the MK1 and the MK4 are very noticeable. Both are built like tanks but are designed to meet different end-user requirements. If you want absolute modularity, then the MK1 is the right choice. This rail literally just feels right in the hand due to the contour. If your concern is with weight then the MK4 is the way to go.
FWIW - I can confirm this. My MKII rail will not sit flush because of the oversize ejection port mount. Looks like the MKII is headed to the spare LMT upper. Hummmm, maybe to ADCO to relieve the mount just a a skosh...
Sorry for the quick test fit and crappy pics.
