Looks like specs have been added on the Geissele site for weight, diameter, etc. for most of the rails.
Does anyone know if the new mk5 key mod rail will be sold with or without the aluminum barrel nut. Also on the bottom 45 degree sections of the rail why not just do the same rectangular holes like the top 45 degree sections? Would this not make the rail more modular and cost effective to produce. Giving the end users the ability to also use the Geissele smr accessories on the bottom of the rail, like the light and qd mounts?
It was a good night!

I believe all the rails ship with the aluminum barrel nut now.
The relief cuts at the bottom 45 and on the top rail were done to bring down the weight without compromising the integrity of the rail.
Integrated QD mounts were incorporated at the suggestion from someone at TOS.
Removing the full anti-rotation tabs were driven due to incompatibility issues with some uppers.
Keymod designs actually make the rail heavier (e.g., MK4 Mod 1 vs MK4 half-keymod). Also, having keymod on the 45s really limit your design capabilities due to the keymod requiring a flat attachment point. If you compare what's on the market, there is a reoccurring theme to the design for those that run keymod at the 45.
Are the aluminum barrel nuts and steel barrel nuts still different colors? My MK2 which I just got from ROG Tactical came with a black nut, which I thought was the steel nut.
Any chance you can get some pics from behind the optic? Interested in how the resolution and practical range on these would be.

Black is steel and the sand/gold/brownish one is aluminum.
Thanks, that's what I thought and the steel was my preference.
