I'm pretty sure the MK IV nut is different from the I & II. I'm not 100% positive, but I believe I read that somewhere.

Also, why does a Mk III not exist?

Trident just confirmed that the nuts are compatible in his last post. You can interchange any length MKI, MKII or MKIV rail on either the old steel nut or the new aluminum nut if I'm reading him right.

My point is I don't see any reason to buy one with the steel nut moving forward if the aluminum one does everything the same yet shaves two ounces off. I'm not saying to trash all your steel nuts but if the aluminum ones are available separately from Geissele (and reasonably priced) then why not swap them out?

It's a smart move by the company. He's really keeping the "modular" in SMR. Thumbs up.

    13" Black are $345
    13" Sand are $370

Just call into the shop and ask for Ashley or Barb. They will take your order over the phone.

Note we do have some blems available. This have small cosmetic defects such as scratches before anodizing. If you are interested they are $30 cheaper.

I think we have one 15" sand blem.

    Weights are as follows:

    15" = 20.2 oz
    13 "= 18.4 oz

weights are with handguard, Geissele barrel nut and cross bolts but subtracting the weight of the stock barrel nut

accessory rails are .82 and .46 oz

    WHG
So if I'm correct, a 15" MK1 is 1.26 pounds. With the new barrel nut it will drop 2.26 ounces to 17.94 ounces or 1.12 pounds including everything needed to install and run? In comparison to the C4 12" handguard that is on the new BCM upper I just bought, that weighs "14.2oz with screws---1.1oz with standard barrel nut" its almost exactly the same? Granted that weight is including full quad rail but still.

I didn't see it, but how does the MK4 handle? Is it more like the MK1 or MK2? And did we get a word on whether the keymod version will have the fixed rails at the end?

The MK4 is still in the prototype stage, so that's going to be hard info to come by.

They will indeed be offered for sale separately, and the price will be $45.

    Found here....http://modernserviceweapons.com/?p=1707

The new bombproof SGBs are......well "Geissele Designed"

The SGB can mount via two set screws, and/or with a stainless steel 3/16" dia coil pin. Once the gas block is lined up, and set screws tight... a 3/16 drill is used to drill through the pre-spotted/partially drilled cross hole.
The new rail it's amazing, i have send mail to Bill for know if there are some possibility to have upgrade the H&K version.

If I get around to it tonight I'll do some comparison photos of the MK 1 VS MK 4. Please keep in mind that the MK 4 is not finalized and is subject to change. They're not currently available for purchase but the new lightweight barrel nut is. There is no ETA for when the MK 4 will be available for purchase.

Edit: Sorry folks - can't deliver on the comparison photo. The wife installed it on her stick before I had a chance to tell her I wanted to use it for some photos. If you guys want images with it mounted, then I can do that.
