Someone forgot to mention it uses the pat-pending BCM KMR mounting system...

There are far too many 'new' rail systems being introduced recently. Like stated in an earlier post, one is attempting to one up the other.
If the set-up you have now works, stick with it, no reason to go out and buy anything else.
Many people seem to keep switching rails every time a new type is introduced but what is the benefit really, other than feeling that you have the latest and greatest?
Coming soon: MLOK 1913 KeyMod sectionsThe rail would be hexagonal, skeletonized (for MLOK) and the sections would attach in place via a snap- in mechanism and it would be piccatinnyMod... If one of you makes it, I want royalties. ....

Capitalism? Building rifles is a hobby. If you just "keep using what you have," at some point there will be nothing new to buy because nobody is going to innovate if there are no buyers.
Your KMR or whatever you currently have wouldn't exist if everyone had kept their LaRues and DDs and M4 plastic. The consumer drives the market, and everyone who enjoys good, cool parts, be that for a working gun or toy should appreciate the early adopters and the "flavor of the month" crowd. They are financing development.
i don't see how it can be heavy...or at least not really noticeably heavier than if it didn't have the picatinny slots. I personally think that's genius. It allows you to mount something like a flashlight using keymod, or if you want to attach something that requires more rigidity, such as a dbal, then you can just use the picatinny slots.
I also don't know what people are talking about "bulk of quad rails" bs...?? Just look at the picture. If you eliminated the notches of picatinny, then it would just be a standard keymod handguard. There's no picatinny rails rising from the handguard like there are on other handguards that have picatinny at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions, which would add bulk and weight. There's simply notches cut out of the handguard.
As far as cheese grater, i'm not entirely sure if it will be much of a problem as there aren't as many cuts to create that cheese grater effect and the edges of the cuts have been beveled a bit, but if you find that it does, there's always Larue index clips.
