Even if true, another instance of "sources parts from does not equal same quality."

I know first hand from non-firesrms manufacturing experience, companies literally manufacture different companies' material, on the same equiptment, and what ships to one company is a no-go for another. Guess whos end product is better, offers lower chance of failure, and costs more? People cannot wrap their heads around this.

A Hi-Point forum is kind of an ironic thing. If you can afford internet to access a forum, why the **** would you buy a Hi-Point?

The worst fit of any of my guns happens to be the most expensive build I've done.... with a Noveske Gen 2 lower, Vltor MUR upper, and Noveske barrel. "Tolerance stacking" I'm told. I still like Noveske stuff though. I'm happy with it and happy I can afford it, but still reject the concept that they're "tier 1" based on my experience and based on not buying into the "tier" concept.
    Fit of what?

Only a fool would buy the name brand tools....
Yep, that post was really ignorant.

I agree with wct097 on the tool comparison. My son is a master mechanic at a large dealership, and has told me a good percentage of mechanics buy high end tools as a status symbol, even when they go heavily into debt to do so. When discussing buying something with my wife, she invariably asks is it a want or a need. Going into debt for a want is, well.........stupid. Staying out of debt is the opposite of foolish.

The majority of mechanics, regardless of the make of vehicle, don't make what most on this forum would consider a lot of money. My son has a number of high end tools, but he's been around long enough to know which ones he needs. The others he buys at Harbor Freight, and when they break he gets a new one for free.

I totally agree that Colt, BCM, Noveske and others are the best ARs out there. The issue I have is when comments come from those with their noses in the air, just to show how much smarter they are than someone else. Or to flaunt how they can buy something which many can't afford. I'm not pointing at anyone in this thread. It's just something that rears its head every now and then.

We do have a pretty damn good idea what companies like BCM do when recieving parts and they aint bashful bout putting foot to ass when parts are not to spec. I dont think i pay for a name with BCM or Colt or DD or other quality brands. I pay for piece of mind, proper specs, and fewer headaches.
Yeah, I understand all that, which is why I mentioned specs and QC.

BCM is very tight lipped about where they source parts because what matters is that they specced the parts and QC to make sure the parts meet their specs.

But I'm still kind of curious where the parts originally come from.

Funny, I usually hear the same line about Olympic making all the parts.

IMO, it comes down to diminishing returns. We have AR's from Olympic Arms, Windham, Wilson Combat and Noveske.

The majority of people will be happy with entry level equipment. But the people that run the snot out of their gear won't, so they pay the price to play harder. And then their are people that would have been perfectly fine with entry level stuff, but buy better anyway. Some of the latter do have an annoying elitist attitude though.

I agree that there is no reason to go into debt on a firearm, either you can afford it or you can't. If you can't, save until you can.

If you spend $2000 on a high end BCM AR15 and only shoot 300 rounds a year, I'm not sure you're any smarter than someone that spends $800 on a Bushmaster to shoot the same volume.

If it works for you, run with it and enjoy yourself.
