Do you have any idea how many rounds of M855 have been shot worldwide for decades? The manufacturer said it was a bad chamber. You are worrying about nothing.

I do realize that but was also told that I should shy away from Wolf and m855. That's why I'm asking the question. The response to my question from the manufacturer has me wanting to sell that rifle.

Every manufacturer tells you to avoid steel case, reman, and otherwise cheap, corrosive, 2nd world ammo. I've never seen a disclaimer for ball ammo though, YMMV. Telling you that is like saying the safest thing to do is not fire the big, scary weapon at all.

M855 won't wear your barrel any more or any less than any other ammo using guilding metal jackets. The bi-metal bullets seem to wear barrels a bit faster. Bi-metal is a mild steel jacket with a very thin copper coating. It may or may not have the coating. Steel cased ammo seems to wear extractors a wee bit faster. You probably won't notice the wear in either for thousands of rounds. I personally don't like steel case or steel bullet ammo. For me the accuracy is not too great.....4" as opposed to 2" or a bit less at a 100 yds.

Your chamber was out of spec. That was the cause, nothing more.

If someone blamed M855, you should shy away from them.
