    What is this?

Not sure if this is the right section...

I tried the Google, but I'm not really sure how to even phrase the search. What am I looking at here? Is that a couple of mags rigged together? This is a "screenshot" of footage that was shown on an episode of 'War Stories with Oliver North'.

I would like to research more info on this, but again I'm not sure what to even search for. "AR 15 banana mag" didn't turn anything up.

    Thanks

One poster on the firearms blog says they are an 80 rounder produced in the Philippines.

Interesting. Thanks for the link. I'd never seen anything like that.

I would say 60 rounds max based on the picture. It looks like 3 cobbled together 20 round magazines to me.

According to that link they are definitely Filipino. I still can't find much beyond that. You know for sure they aren't 80 rounders? Where are you seeing that?

This pic is a bit clearer

ETA: it looks wider than a normal mag also

It looks wider to me also. Appears to be one stamping in that picture.

Guys used to duct tape mags together, end-to-end. If you look close, you'll see that's tape in the middle.

Clearly not the case with the second pic. I wonder if they're flippers, though.
