Try inserting the magazine by indexing on either the left or right of the magazine well and then rocking it into place, this will allow the top round to stay in the same position and not make contact with the feed ramp lip on the receiver. Please let me know if this helps.
Well would you look at that! I definitely was indexing the front of the magazine and then inserting it and I can watch the magazine latch push the top round forward. There are even brass marks on my latch. If I lead with the rear or either side (or even just inserting it straight) the issue does not exist. This shouldn't be too hard to get used to, I'm not much of an AK guy Thank you for your help!

That's awesome. I'm glad it worked out for you.

I appreciate the fact that a Magpul representative quickly interacted with the OP and worked out the issue. This speaks volumes about a company and their desire to manufacture a quality product.

    This parallels my thoughts.

I very impressed with the Hunter 700. The ability to customize the ergonomics to suit a persons individuals requirements is awesome. Especially at this price point. I just got a set of risers today and raised the comb with the .50 inch along with adding an additional spacer to lengthen the LOP to 14 inches. Now the fit is even better. I'm looking forward to bettering my first outing with it this weekend. This is new AAC-SD handload 168 HPBT backed with RL15 powder using Lapua brass, a little over .4 MOA 5 shots at 100 yards. Magpul CS is superb. I've called them a few times with minor issues and questions and they have always been nothing but friendly and helpful. I've only one minor complaint with Hunter 700 which I noticed first time I set it up. The screw that locks down the LOP spacers/comb allen head bore stripped first time I tried to remove it. I can use a flat blade but would like to get a replacement. I would like to avoid having to carry a large blade screwdriver in my kit. OH, second minor complaint.... that the 10 round mags are not here yet!

Thats what I was thinking. I just talked a buddy into the Hunter for his new 700 and he couldn't be happier! Its the customer service that sells me every time!

I'm waiting on the Long action version. It'll have a provision for box magazine? No need to bed the stock?

While your question may get answered here, there is a thread on Magpul R700 stock discussions here:

While I haven't shot it since discovering my magazine issue, I've done lots of various loading exercises at home and everything seems to be working well. I will report back once I bring it back to the range again for live testing.
