Better optic for an SR25 APC then a NF NXS 2.5-10x42??

I just purchased a Mlok SR25 APC last week and should be in hand shortly. Is there a better optic choice then then NF 2.5-10x42 for this rifle? I already have many CQB type SBRs and other rifles for 0-300 yards with 1-6x optics, etc, etc. For this specific rifle I highly doubt I will be shooting it shorter then 50 and longer then 5-600 ever. I would explore a 1-8x but I did not care for the USO 1-8 I had and sold that off. CQBSS is not in the budget. Would like to try to get 10x and don't want much more. Thought about a Mark 6 for a short amount of time, both in 1-6 and 3-18. Keep getting pushed back to the NF.

Anything else I should consider before jumping on the NF? Or someone with experience with this 2.5-10x42 on a 308 in a short to mid range platform?

    Thanks in advance.

2nd focal plane is going to be slow.

Bench? Running and gunning. Since it is 16' 100-600 is going to be 1-6x24 or 1-8x24.

    What is your budget?

How can you tell him a 2nd focal plane is going to be slow with no definition of how the rifle will be used?

Would like to stick in the 2-2500 range really. This rifle is going to be with me out on the property with me all the time. Most likely next to me in the Polaris Ranger while out and about. We have some large black bear and sometimes with cubs and mountain lion that frequently come around. While my current "go to" 11.5 5.56 with suppressor may do just fine, I wanted a little more "power" if you will. Might take a class or two with it, but as of now, my 5.56 rifles see all that action. Shoot 500 typically max here and can get to 600 at local range. I have a few 5.56 ARs with SFP 1-6x and they do really well. Almost as fast as my RDS rifles. FFP gets lost anything under 6x in my opinion and mostly useless in my experience. Especially when we have bright white snow covering everything. The USO 1-8x SR-8C I had the dot was not day light bright at 1x and pretty much unusable at that magnification. So that's where I have that experience from. Along with other 1-6x in FFP, returned or sold them off. I was considering the Bushnell Elite Tactical 1-8x as I like the BTR-2 reticle. Not going back to a USO, and the CQBSS is out of my price range...

I find FFP 1-6x optics to be much slower then SFP.. I don't have to search for the dot or cross hairs on SFP. From my experience with both and of course my opinion. For these low mag optics, is one of the only instances that I don't use FFP. All of my 6mm's, 7mm mags, 300 win mags, etc, etc, get FFP optics..

The NF is dated and you can do much better.

The Bushnell LRHS blows it out of the water in every category. As does the 1-8.5 SMRS

Is going to be impossible to beat.

I have both the 6.5 SFP and a 8.5 which is FFP both in BTR-2. They are really underdogs and better than anything short of the CQBSS. The Mk6 has tracking issues, the Kahles has poor reticle choices, The USO is a USO: enough said, and the Razor G2 has poor reticle choices while being heavy. Anything with MOA reticles or turrets is an automatic nogo IMO. Stick with Mils. Stay away from the 3-8 MK6 as well, serious tracking issues and poor turrets for an optic of that price. Anything short of Steiner M /Vortex G2 I keep coming back to the bushnell LRHS. Glass, turrets, eyebox, paralax adjust, reticle, weight... it really has it all.

Is this Bushnell going to beat it in durability?

All the hipsters love to bash on Nightforce. Other optics have 'better specs' on paper, but an NXS really does what it says it will for a long time, as many times as you want to do it.

I still think the 2.5-10X32 is a better optic than the X42 as it has slimmer, trimmer profile and I like the illumination knob a lot better. Lack of parallax on the X32 is a non-issue, center the reticle and it's plenty close enough. I've taken one out to 900+yards on an AR and loved it.

While it pains me to agree, I'm a fan of the 8.5 FFP BTR-2 as well.

Well I guess your main option will be something like a Mk6 3-18. That might actually be a bit low on the magnification side. Maybe a Mk8 3.5-25?
