I suppose I'll be that guy...

Why not shoot the piss out of it first and then decide what you actually want to change?

I don't know how difficult it is to install a VFG on either because if I wanted to, I'd figure out a way to do it. I will point out that the Slimline uses M-Lok slots and I believe there is a VFG that's made to for the M-Lok. Why I'd suggest the Slimline is because it's longer than all the other drop-ins, has a slender profile, protects the hand from barrel heat, fits the rifle tightly to eliminate most if not all rattling and is affordable.

I run an H1 Micro and I think it's a great sight. I think an AR should also have a sling. The Vickers padded Blue Force sling is a good one and weighs about a half pound. I run a weapon light on the FSB at the 12 o'clock position, but with your injury, that probably wouldn't work unless you were to set it up with a remote switch
Thank you for your thoughts. I have been looking at the Vickers padded Blue Force Sling, but will now go ahead and order one. And I too really like the Aimpoint Micros. I currently have a T1 and T2, and really, really like them. I just ordered a Steiner 1-4 for another rifle so I will need to postpone the H2 until next month. Heh, and I thought the 1911 was addictive.

I understand where you are coming from, and good advice too. Normally I do not make any modifications until I give a new gun a good workout. But I have some other AR's, and due to my wrist problems I have already discovered that the use of a vertical grip is the best way for me to hold/control the AR type weapon. The Gunfighter stock was easy because I already have 3 of them in use, just like how they feel. But for some reason the handguard was throwing me for a loop.

Thanks for the info and link. This might be just the ticket for another rifle that I'm playing with.

Don't forget the sling and a QD mount setup. I prefer the HK hook because in the field the push button QD has come loose dropping the rifle.

I also prefer an ambidextrous 45° safety lever. Place the gun on fire with my thumb and on safe with my trigger finger.

Hand grip, rail, and vertical grip is all user preferences.

Sounds like you are set on the optic. Just setup your WML and you will be good to go.
What more can you ask for?
I'm not quite sold on the QD sling setup either. I will definitely checkout the HK hook. I have an ambidextrous safety on my SR 15 Mod2 (because it came with it), but have not yet tried one on my other rifles. Is there a particular brand that you would recommend?

I love the BAD ASS 45° safety selector with a short and long lever. Short on trigger finger side long on thumb side.
I've also have the noveske/magpul on one rifle but it just feels cheap.
Out of all the slings I prefer the padded blue force VTAC. I've tried several and I switched them all to the VTAC.

I know I made links to other threads here Ambi safety

As far a handguard goes: MOE SL Hand Guard

For other suggestion, I want three things on my carbines:
    1. Optics (sounds like you go that covered)
    2. Sling (Can't recommend the VCAS enough, I'd go with a QD version. Your BCM stock is all ready set up for it just get a QD socket for the MOE SL handguard either from Magpul or what I like is the flush mount from IWC)
    3. A powerful light (some type of Surefire, I like the X300 at 12 o'clock on a Mossie Midnight rail, but there are a ton of other option including a 1" mounts for handhelds or mounts for Scout Lights from IWC, check out this thread for options: Light mount help on my sbr, Arson Machine and Arisaka Defense)

I really like the Mossie Mount & Surefire light. I modified mine along with the FSB to get it to sit a bit closer to the barrel

Here's a shot of my shorty (I call it the Wolf Pup) with the Slimline handguard
