I've never thrown it in a tub of water. I just clean it like You would any other ar15. I just make sure to use a chamber brush, and clean under the handguards. Zero signs of corrosion.

tried my buddies 5.45 S&W bolt and worked fine, not to sure why a brand new upper would do this

AIM Surplus will be the only store selling Spike's 5.45mm uppers, and they have them in stock now. AIM and Spike's have an exclusive deal with the 5.45mm uppers.

Magazines are another issue. C Products is gone, and the 5.45mm mags are out of stock almost everywhere. @ $19, I'm not eager to try out the NEW 5.45mm mags made with the C Products tooling.

I went out to the range with my new 5.45 upper yesterday. It's a 10.5 Ballistic Advantage barrel, 1/8 twist. I have a DPMS counterweight buffer, and was using C products mags loaded with Wolf 70 grain FMJs.

In FA, the gun would cycle 3-4 rounds then close on an empty chamber. Then, occasionally, cases would get stuck in the chamber.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

Lose the DPMS buffer, put a H buffer in there.

That's not necessary. You are wrong.

    Little Problem

I have a S&W 5.45 Upper and I'm having problems with my Silver Bear ammunition. I'm having failure to extracts and the cases are getting stuck into the chamber. Only with Silver Bear ammo, but the surplus rounds are working perfectly. Had to pull back on the charging handle while hitting stock against the ground to get the steel casings out of the chamber.

I'd have to agree with Littlelebowski.

All that's need on an ongoing basis is to flush the rifle (including the gas tube) with WD-40 and then clean normally.

I've had ZERO additional corrosion issues after switching over to WD-40.
