Reading the claims, it sounds a LOT like FIREClean. No petroleum. Non-toxic. Extreme temperatures. Does not create fouling build-up.
Is it also vegetable oil/organic based?

I don't know, I have never heard any stories about Slip2000 EWL gumming up and becoming sticky on stored firearms like I have with FIREClean.
You also don't have to clean off all of your old lube before using Slip2000 EWL.
I'm not defending Slip2000 though... I have always used Break-Free CLP but Slip2000 is the only wonder lube that ever made me consider changing.

I have used it in carbine classes with great results, and I like it, however they have a claim of an operating temp of something like 1250deg F. ??? I think the MSDS Sheet shows a flash point on it of 500deg F. So I guess if it still lubricates while on fire then uhhh awesome!
I might be wrong though, it's been a while since I looked it up.

I have used it for the last 8 years, it has never let me down.
works well in my ultrasonic as well.
I've been on the same quart since '09 or so. That stuff is awesome. Doesn't smell and doesn't stain clothes. Nothing sticks to it, and it doesn't gum or gel at all.
I've left a filthy AR lubed up with EWL in a non-climate controlled connex from August to January in Coastal South Texas and it was exactly as I left it.
The EWL 30 is like a very light grease, the EWL is just about like the old CLP but better.
I normally don't get into lube discussions. They generally turn into a "mine is better than yours". That said, I'm a F/A instructor for a very large PD. as such I shoot almost everyday. I swear by SLIP 2000. It works in the heat, works in the cold, and it stays on. Run it on my AR systems, and my handguns.
Is it better? I don't know, there are folks that love other lubes. SLIP has just worked well for me.
Well, i can say this thread just got SLIP2000 another sale.![]()
I don't think they claim it to be plant-derived and I would assume it is not. Lots of useful oil-like chemicals (including synthetic motor oil) are derived from natural gas or ethylene these days, which are not petroleum but allow you to produce the same wide range of products. I don't know what it's made from though.
SLIP2000 and EWL was my primary choice of lube 5-6 years ago, and then I started playing around with newer, shinier stuff (Froglube, Weaponshield, etc.). I've just come back to SLIP2k in the last month or two for a couple of reasons:
-I've found specific drawbacks with the newer stuff I've tried (specifically old/cold issues with Froglube and rapid increase in friction after firing a couple magazines on a Weaponshield-lubed AR)
-I recently pulled an AR out of storage that hadn't been used in several years. My notes indicated it was last lubed with SLIP. While the components were basically dry, friction was low and I fired several magazines through it without any failures.
-It has occurred to me that I want a nontoxic lube given how much I touch the oil and how some of it may get vaporized and inhaled while shooting. Froglube also meets this, but SLIP seems better in cold weather. Although FP-10 and Weaponshield claim to be nontoxic, after reading their MSDS I'm not as comfortable with them.
-Judging from sales and comments on forums, SLIP is one of the oldest lubes around that still seems popular with non-Fudd types.
I've played the latest-miracle-lube game several times now and am getting off the carousel. I'm going to use up my stocks of SLIP and Froglube, which will probably take 5+ years. After that I'll see what's on the market but as of today, I would probably buy SLIP EWL.

Considering Northern MN just hit -15 again, all of these comments are music to my ears. I was trying different methods in the low cold and was getting mixed results. I am hoping slip will let me put it away wet, pull it below zero, and operate a few mags without gumming up in the cold.
While I have had an AR fail on me while it was cold out, I honestly don't believe the cold itself has caused a rifle to fail on me before I get to cold to continue.
But, I've spent some time navigating and roaming, away from my back yard range, in the woods to find out that the open rifle on my back had started gumming up from the long term cold (a couple hours or so of traversing). Again, it cycled manually, but it was tough to actuate and far from smooth, I didn't feel comfortable utilizing it at the time to find out if it would work properly (mainly because I was freezing my behind off so much already, haha).
It was -18 that morning, and the wind was far from in my favor, maybe I am just demanding/expecting to much from any lube? Or even maybe underestimating the lubes ability to heat back up after the first cycle?
I am still just too new of an AR/Carbine user in the winter.
