Do you guys keep them for your rifles?
Do you guys keep them for your rifles?
not anymore, per se
i keep track of round count on the barrel and similar details. i don't plot my call and impact for every shot anymore, but i did for many years. and i don't base my solution on old data anymore. but i'd highly recommend keeping a book for a newer shooter. it will help you learn.

Yes, I use the one from impact data books. It gives you a great record of what you did to your rifle, and firing conditions and how you did. It allows you to track changes and solve potential problems. Every time I take the action out of the stock, do any maintenance, or remove and reinstall the suppressor I log it so when I do the same type of maintenance later I can look back and see what my next cold bore shot should do under those same weather conditions. I log each shot taken and whether or not it was my ammo of choice (ADI 168g SMK) or doing load development etc. It also tells you when it's time to actually clean the bore. Each time groups open up I know it's time to scrub the bore. A databook will show you when you are getting close to that point as history starts to build on it.

+1 for Impact Data Books. With the advent of ballistic software making DOPE cards is a thing of the past, but having a logbook is extremely helpful with load development. I also like making range cards for my favorite shooting spots so I don't have to sit there and range targets constantly. It's a small investment, but a worthwhile one.
Im in the process of building my own. found a place that has 115 different cards you can download and print yourself
its some guy off another sites google drive.

tons of pages some useful. i work in goverment document creation so I found the ideas to be solid but im building my own. one of the perks of having the most robust publishing tools at my disposal.
Thanks a bunch that is going to fix me up big time.

Very nice. Do you have a link to the actual zip up binder? Exactly what I have been looking for. Thanks.
