Trijicon Accupower 1-4 vs Leupold VX-R Patrol 1.25-4

If the AccuPower series glass on the 1-4x glass is anything like the 3-9x then that is what I'd get. I've had a lot of time behind the AccuPower 3-9x40, and I'm still amazed by the clarity every time I take it out. I'm considering the 1-4x as a replacement, especially if the green BDC reticle is as daylight bright as some claim.

It is very clear and illumination in green (MOA and BDC) is nice and you can see it in the daylight, but I wouldn't say it's 'daylight bright' in sunny conditions.

But it's a very well done optic, I like mine a lot and wish I'd picked up another just to have around when I saw them for $575.

Rubber push button illumination on the VX-R is total bullshit.

Not intuitive to use. You have no reference of where you are at. Pain in the ****ing ass to adjust on the fly.

I have installed five of these 1.25-4 on rifles for my friends and I can't stand the illumination control.

They would be a good mid price scope otherwise.

I have the accupower in red mil-square. It is a good scope, the brightness isnt daylight by any stretch, and the turrets dont always line up with the hash scribed on the scope. I am happy with my purchase and will likely never sell this scope but am looking to replace it(meaning move it off) my main rifle. My eyes are not great and I would like something more.

I havent looked through it but in this price point I would be tempted to sacrifice a little clarity for the 5x on a burris xtr ii 1-5. Which by all accounts is daylight bright and has a good feature set.
