It's just what I assumed he was saying, I can still recall people demanding the scrap the electoral college after the 2000 election and have a pure democracy because "their guy" didn't win.

There are other forms of data such as fund raising, volunteer staff on hand, etc. All of this data is very public and easy to find with just a rudimentary understanding of Google. I find it very useful (i.e. predictive power) when multiple sources such as opinion polling and fund raising are headed in the same direction, but your milage may vary.
No argument, to me polling numbers are slightly more accurate than 5 day weather forecasts.

It's the internet. To some people a sample of 5 is representative of the national view. It really is the least of our concerns right now.

I have a short list of people I despise more than Christie, but Hillary Clinton is on it and so is her possible VP Elizabeth Warren. As a result this continues to be an easy decision. I'm trying to see this as a "business decision" where Trump taps a RINO for establishment support with the knowledge that VPs are essentially powerless. That said, I'd rather have him tap Cruz for VP than Christie. It would send a similar message without rewarding a hardcore RINO.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.
