    SPARC AR

Vortex Optics is adding a new SPARC model to their red dot lineup.

I'm intrigued by this one. Same projected battery life as a SPARC II using a AAA battery and either absolute or lower 1/3 co-witness. Price point remains the same as the SPARC II.

Although the Aimpoint Micro is my preferred duty/SD optic, I may end up with one or two of these for my sporting carbines once they are released.

I would like to see them come out with a QD mounting option/accessory for these.

They are also making a Spitfire AR in 1X as well.

So it has the same mediocre battery life that the old one had but now uses a AAA battery that forces you to use their mount? With the good reviews of the PA Advanced Micro Dot I'd go with that or one of the Halosun offerings if that's the category you want to stay in.

Looks neat. Hard to tell on iPhone, but looks like a 17S type mount. If so there is aftermarket support for "better" mounts.

For the price I like everything about both optics except the buttons. Not necessarily a deal breaker but I prefer a dial switch to buttons.

    From the Vortex Optics website:

Q: Can you swap the base out for, let's say an American Defense Mfg quick release? Or does it only work with the Vortex base?

A: https://www.americandefensemanufactu...w/product/107/ This should replace the very bottom piece on the mount of the SPARC AR and give you a quick release mounting option.

Hopefully that mount will maintain the stock co-witness height.

I ordered one on Wednesday and got it Yesterday. From http://www.3riversprecision.com/ Seems pretty solid, and for 200.00 and a lifetime warranty and what you get. I can't complain so far. Hopefully I can get shooting with it this week. Been raining for days.
