How would you compare the mk6 to the razor, overall?

vortex razor Gen 2...weight worth it?

I'll add some questions I guess:

    1. How usable is the mrad ret without the dot?

    2. Does the .2 mil turret adj bother anyone?

As an update, my issues with the K16i being not up to snuff was the illumination having "dead' spots when I got it (positions on the rheostat that would cause the reticle to black out), and the illumination increasing jerkily in the low range. After speaking to Mr. Huber, I was informed that this is NOT normal, and NOT what I can expect from a Kahles product. They are taking the optic back, have the capability to (if need be) replace the illumination module here in the US, and should have it back to me before the end of next week, all on their dime. This was the main cause of my discontent with the optic, and if that fixes it, I will be quite pleased and have peace of mind.

As an aside, they are letting me leave the painstakingly mounted Bobro in place. This is exceptional. I am OCD about my scope mounts (I install them and they stay for life. De-grease rings and scope tube with acetone, Mic the ring-gaps to a tolerance of 0.002" variance on either side from each other, Badger dead-level and plumb the reticle, torque to the spec on the ring caps using purple loctite, etc. etc. Installing a scope is a rigid exercise for me.)

Fwiw, I sent mine in to have an update made that was totally superfluous to it functioning properly (changing turrets from .15 to .1) and they sent it back to to Austria to get updated and re-tested everything to ensure proper function.

I did not have to pay a dime other than shipping it to them. I did not even buy it new, it was a demo.

I asked, and they said illumination could be handled, up to and including replacing it, here in the USA. I spoke with Mr. Huber, so I suspect that what I got was the truth of the matter. It may well be that their facility/capability here in the US has changed, or that the turrets are a different animal. Regardless, Kahles said what I am experiencing is not normal, and they are going to fix it, at no cost to me. This makes me happy, as the scope was awesome on paper and at first glance.

I've run a Gen 2 Razor 4.-27 on my competition gun as well as a hunting gun for almost a year now, and it has been nothing short of excellent for the money. The turrets are fantastic with no mush, the glass is HD glass and very good, the EBR-2 reticle is really nice and well thought out, the illumination has a good range of brightness (and I like that the illumination dial pushes in to hide under the parallax knob), and the thing is built like a tank and can definitely take a lot of abuse.

As for the weight, the razor is heavy compared to a lot of other scopes, but i like that it's built like a tank and I personally i like a little more weight on my competition guns. I also run the Razor on my hunting rifle and haven't been overly concerned with the weight. I do run throw levers on mine though as the magnification ring can be a little tight. Overall, I don't know if you can find a better scope in that price range if you want the features that come with the Gen 2 Razor. I do have an AMG 6-24 on order, and i'm excited to play with it when it comes out (Similar to the Gen 2 Razor but much lighter).

My question is kindof "price doesn't matter", but I see a lot of "For the price...". I'm looking for a no-holds barred king of the heap 1-6 or 1-8. I will re-evaluate when my K16i is returned from service, whether I am still looking or not, though. Over-all thoughts with a re-frame of reference?

Just updated you via pm before reading this, my k16i has constant, nearly linear brightness increase. No dead spots, no jerking. Glad they are taking care of you. I think you made a great choice.
As far as the turrets go, since others brought it up, I want a 1-6x with capped turrets, so my only grip about the k16i is the soft turret "clicks" is not much of an issue for me in a zero it and RDS/magnifier with holdover reticle type use. I don't use this scope to dial dope. Maybe I am selling the low power variable short in this regard and if you want to dial dope a lot I think the Kahles turrets will be lacking. Other than the mushy capped turrets, this scope is king of the heap IMO.

    1. Works great. The reticle is fairly thick, and since it's second focal plane, it never changes.

    2. Makes it faster to zero. Seriously though, not an issue for my use.

I apologize, for some reason I thought you were asking about the Razor 4.5-27 (which I have a lot of experience with), and I just realized you were looking at the Razor 1-6. I have used the 1-6 Razor a few times, and it was very nice, but I don't own one and I haven't compared it to many other 1-6 scopes so I'm probably not the best source of info in that dept... Sorry.
