DSG also makes 2 Pod Lock like devises that are under $10. Every bit as good as KMW @ 1/3 the price.

I picked up my first Bolt Gun about a year ago. Remington 700 in .308. Ask about a quality bipod to anyone and Harris will undoubtedly be mentioned. I almost picked one up, but I'm always one to shop around for a good deal. I ended up going with a Tip Top pivot Series-VII with both pivot and pan features.

Got it for under $60 from their website, as I found a coupon code for 10% off when buying direct. While I don't have much to compare it to, it is definitely a good value. It's well constructed and the features can't be beat in that price point. The "pan" feature is pretty cool and the pivot works very well. I will say, that when locked down, it is possible to still make it slightly pivot and pan if you really exert some force on it. Given that this was my first experience with a bipod, maybe that's normal. Maybe it's not. Either way, it's a nonissue for me. The legs are spring-loaded and have two levels for locking them down; detents and a tension dial. Both work well and I've not had any issues with them coming out of place. The legs are NOT notched, while some of the Harris are. But, the pivot and pan compensates for the absence if you are on somewhat uneven ground. In addition, you can still lock them in place at any point between stowed and deployed positions. I'm sure it's a little cumbersome compared to if it had notches, but it works and positively locks in place.

Overall I'm pretty pleased. I'm not a competition marksman and I won't be knocking it around in Iraq anytime soon. At the end of the day, I've been able to consistently shoot 1 MOA groups and better at 100 yards, seated from a bench, with no additional support other than the Tip Top bipod, with cheap ball ammo. The times that they've opened up are all on me; getting lazy with trigger control, breathing, sight picture, etc. As long as I do my part, this bipod and the 700 do theirs.

I'd rather spend the $30 more for a Harris and get the notched legs as well. What's $30 when you're talking about a known quantity vs a no-name-brand bipod on a $2,000 rifle?

Of course the only thing wearing a Harris at my house anymore is a .22LR. All my real guns get an Atlas so take my opinion for what its worth.
Why do the loudest do the least?

It would be nice to have the option to mount direct to KeyMod or MLOK, but that's neither here nor there.

If you don't mind the bipod stud being present, one of these will fit into the large keymod hole on the bottom of your rail. I've ran this setup on my BCM all fall and winter hunting deer and coyotes and haven't had any issues.

If he wants pivot and pan, the Harris is going to be more than $30 extra. I can't say that I disagree with your sentiment on getting a known product. I guess it depends on one's application. For me, its not going to ruin my day if it fails. From what I remember, they have a very solid warranty. So it was a no-lose situation for me. If it doesn't work, or ends up breaking, I'll send it back. If it holds up, I just saved at least $50 bucks for investing in ammo, or the next project. It doesn't hurt to do some research and try a new product. All of the "big" names in the industry were once unknowns. It's not unreasonable to think that someone else can't develop a solid product at a good value. But the only way we find out if a new item is any good is for someone to try it. As far as a bipod goes, for my purposes, I'm willing to be one of the guinepig (sp?).

I'm also in the 'have an Atlas but still like my Harris" camp. The biggest issue I have with my Atlas is that the feet/legs rotate around the ball detent and allow the bipod to roll forward when you load the bipod. My understanding is that Atlas has addressed this, but don't know about Harris. My Harris isn't notched so the locking screws prevent the feet rotating. Does the notched Harris have the same problem?

I have not noticed nor experienced the notched legs on my Harris rotate.

Harris with notched legs and a pod lock is hard to beat.
The green blob outdoors atlas knockoffs are actually really great bipeds for the money if your on a budget.

That's twice in the past 24 hours that I've come across someone speaking favorably of the Green Blob bipods. I came across them when looking for a BUIS on Amazon, and just couldn't take the name seriously. I think I'll give them a shot at some point when looking for an inexpensive, but decently constructed, firearm accessory.

I did not know the man quoted above, and joined this Forum after his passing. He seemed to be a leader of men; both spiritually and physically. Someone we'd all be proud to emulate.

I bought 3 of them, and to be honest putting it next to my atlas there really isn't a lot of difference. I mean yes the Atlas is slightly better built, but for normal range use, or on a budget build, it would be hard to beat.
