Trijicon RMR LED Adjustable for an FNX-45 Tactical. Which one though?

I've decided to finally bite the bullet (no pun intended) and buy a Trijicon RMR for my FNX-45 Tactical.

I'm new to these and the only red dot anything optics I own are an EOTECH EXPS3.0-TAN / G33.STS-TAN combo on my Mk18, an EXPS3.0-BLK on my Noveske and a Primary Arms MD-06 Micro Dot on one of my other random AR's.

I've never had an RMR sized optic before and I very little experience shooting them. Which dot do I want? Which MOA? Which is the most preferred size for a pistol?

This is my night stand gun but I I'm not interested in hunting and searching for the dot in the dark if I ever need it so I'm liking the option of adjustment for daytime but also being able to turn it off and just go right to the Night Sights when SHTF. I mostly want the RMR for steel shooting and hog hunting. Going hot hunting at the end of this month and I'm thinking I would like an RMR for that.

I think I prefer the FDE models as my FNX-45 Tactical is FDE but I'm open to Black if anyone knows a reason? I do notice when I draw up my FNX-45T fast that black rear sight POPS. It really stands out from the FDE frame and slide. Kinda has me wondering if a Black RMR might not be a better option for quick target acquisition as the unit itself stands out more from the FDE? Thoughts?

So dots. I know when I shoot rifles, I prefer small dots so I can see more of the target but is that how I'll use an RMR or will it be more of a field of vision thing?

I'm looking at the RM06. Kinda in the middle for the adjustable RMR's. The 1.0 MOA seems too small and it looks like most people go 3.25 or 6.5 MOA. Which would be better for what I said I would like to use it for?

Really looking for any input. Thanks guys!

    6.5 MOA adjustable.

The bolded makes no sense... OR... It would be an argument in favor of the FDE. Why would you want to focus on the RMR housing?

    Ah yes let me explain.

So when I shoot my HK 45, HK45CT, GLOCK 17, FNX-9, anything that is "all black" it takes me a second to get my focus onto the sights and then find the 3-dots.

On the FNX-45 Tactical FDE when I unholster is and draw up fast my eyes separate the rear sight from the slide VERY quickly due the color differences. Once I've gotten a bead on the rear sight I pickup the 3 white rings of the Tritium very quickly.

I just kinda thought maybe the blackness of the RMR might help me pick up on it quick but I suppose even if it's FDE and somewhat matches the slide, my eyes would still get drawn to that black rear Trijicon iron/pistol sight and then I'd pick up on the red dot being just above the standard pistol sights quickly too.

Who knows, that is why I'm asking.

Someone posted a picture of the FNX-45T in FDE with a Surefire X300U-A-TAN and a RM06 FDE over on the FN forum and the thing was sick as hell. Can't make up my mind on the color. I did order a Streamlight TLR-1 HL FDE tonight though and I'm looking for a holster now. Couple of holsters actually. I wanted the X300U but for the price ($139) I wen with the Streamlight. Totally different topic though!

Sorry it's late, rambling a little.

SO why the 6.5 adjustable? Have you use the 3.25 at all?

You're losing me, bud. I've tried both and am partial to the 6.5. If you were looking for more precision or something like that I'd have recommended the 3.25. Based on your stated needs (and concerns- hunting for the dot), I recommend the 6.5.

You're not using the RMR housing for any kind of sight picture, thus the housing color is irrelevant in dot acquisition, at least in my experience; I have two pistols with RMRs, one FDE and one black. I use the RM06, and think it works just fine, but I'd actually like to try the RM09. A 3.25 MOA dot can be made to emulate a much larger dot if you simply turn up the brightness to induce bloom. IMO, the RM07 is simply far too large a dot.
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

    Housing color is irrelevant

I would go the RM06. The larger dot doesn't really make it "easier" to find on a handgun, but it certainly hurts precision if you are going for head shots at 100 yards.

Same exact experience. I would go 3.25 MOA for the future.

My Glock has a 6.5moa for on it but my HK45CT will have a 3.25moa for on it when the slide is done...3.25moa is the way to go.

Like many things, it is personal preference. I did not care at all for the 3.25 and I also do not care to be making headshots at 100 yards with my FNX.

Up close and personal, HD... I much prefer the 6.5 MOA.

Amazon has good prices... Order from them.. Decide which one you like and return the one you don't hassle free (Just don't be a dick and live fire with it).

I find the 6.5MOA no faster or easier to acquire, and very much prefer the 3.25MOA dot. At all distances I like the precision of the smaller dot and am a lot more confident at distance with a more refined aiming point.
