Using a T1 through NV with an LED IR illuminator on a handgun

I'm looking at putting a T1 on a Ruger MkIII and having an x300v underneath it for IR illum.

I'm wondering how the dot is affected with the IR illumination from the flashlight. At first I was thinking about getting an x400V with its own laser, but I still haven't forgotten how shitty Surefire ****ed me over when I bought one a few months ago and I don't want to risk that disaster again.

Anyone know if it will wash out the dot?
Why do the loudest do the least?

I can check later today but I don't think it will at all.

    My setup:
    Aimpoint T1
    Surefire 300v
    Pvs 14

That would be fantastic! I really appreciate you doing that.

I'm sure the dot's brightness will have to be adjusted but I just want to make sure its still usable, if that makes sense. I've only used IR illum with a laser pointer, never a red dot.

I just ran a quick test. I need to make one correction, the IR light is a surefire 600v.

With the T-1 set on "4" IR light on I could not see the red dot in the PVS 14, when I get home later tonight I will run more tests but it's not looking good with the ainpoint. It will however pick up the dbal with IR light on especially outside with the spread of the IR which I think you knew already.

    Thanks for the info rush.

Taliv, that's interesting I have the RM07 and RM06 on G19s and I was told the adjustables are better than the dual illums. I specifically went that route for NV use.

the adjustables may also be ok, but for sure the dual illum is. i have 3 of them (2 on S&W CORE 9mm and 1 on an AR15) and shoot in the dark with them regularly. the big green dot is perfect for NV use.

I went out and did a test last night and I just had to turn the T1 up a click or two and it was perfect. The perfect setting is one below where it begins to bloom. It's not as easy to find as a laser but its more reliable than an x400v, no doubt.

Did you go past the IR settings on the T1? Be careful as ithe visible red dot can burn into your pvs14 or at least that's what I was told.

RDS on a handgun are not as intuitive as on a rifle or laser. But with practice 'finding the dot' becomes second nature.
