It probably would have gotten an R rating had one person cussed. That's how intense the last battle is.

There was no glory in it. It was literally a war in the stars.
Now that has win all over it.

You had me at Saving Pvt Ryan. How they make that silly little cute chick believable in the film I don't know (and they failed totally with the last movie to do so with the other cute little chick...), I don't know, but I'll take your word on it, and try and see it over X Mass week-ish.

    Thanx

To assuage your concerns, Jyn Erso was probably the smartest written and well portrayed female character I have ever seen in a movie yet.

The trailers had me fooled. Without spoiling it, she is not a hero or an anti-hero.

More like a reluctant partisan fighter who isn't really partisan.

Nothing she did physically or behaviorally made me do an eyeroll.

So I take it that this meme has lost its relevance?

If the latter, I'll go when I hit CONUS next week!
I rate TFA above episode 2 and 1, but below ep3 and the original movies.

All I can say is that it was a holy hell of a firefight.

Just for "fun" (if you're morbid) go look up Tarawa Battle Footage and it looks like the last battle only in black and white.

Hoth and Endor were freaking cartoons compared to the Battle of Sefrica. To be honest.....there were parts that felt a bit gratuitous. I mean like people got dismembered from explosions.

I defy you to watch it without saying "Whoa", "Holy sheeyit" and "Gawt-DAYUM"

FWIW, I would rate TFA moderately above 1. ep 2 got goofy but once you got to the BHD Geonosis battle, it is not so bad. Plus Natalie Portman will never be 20 and have a little washboard like that again.

For me it is from best to worst:
    Rogue One
ROTJ(Screw the haters, first I saw in theatres)
    Empire
    ROTS
    ANH
    AOTC
    TFA
    Holiday Special
    Ep 1

TFA is a movie with no depth. It was more of a great time to see all of the old characters again. Han Solo dying was the best part, followed by the saber battle at the end. BUT that part is a fail to me also, since they let a trooper handle a LS. I will never forgive JJ for that.

Fin does not have the mental attitude of a trooper either. I consider him the new jar jar.

Lucas may be an egotistical dick, but he does not violate roles crossing over.

Rogue One is a tragic war story. People fighting for hope, but also knowing they will sacrifice their own life if necessary. The movie pulls no punches, make no apologies, and has no hero's. They are fighting against an evil oppressive govt.

My only critique of the movie was how everyone was saying there was not enough different "races" in previous movies. Go watch the cantina part. I see a room full of them. Although, I must say that each character held their own in RO.

If it does not outsell TFA, I will be shocked. I would give it a 9...only because they did not show a thermal imploder.
