Question about Schmidt & Bender Short Dots (1.1-4)

I know the original Short Dots were 20mm objective lenses. There for a while, I thought they were transitioning to 24mm objectives. Now when I look on S&B's website in the PM II line, for 1.1-4, all I see is a single 20mm obj scope. I no longer see the "Zenith Short Dot LE" optic on the website. Anyone have the story behind this?

I'm looking for a 1-x scope and my budget keeps creeping up, so I figured I should study up on them and Kahles.

At that price check out the MK8 1-8. The Kahles is SFP FYI.

I'll be interested to hear the back story as well, given I run a 1.1-4 Zenith w/ 2ndFP.

I'd go Kahles, and did. My goal was to purchase the best 1X-n variable that I could, and I feel that the K16i SM1 fit that bill.

    -Weight
    -Robustness
    -Illumination
-FOV, "true 1x fidelity", glass quality

I just hope Tangent Theta doesn't come out with a 1X variable...I'd go broke!

So no one knows why S&B has seemingly "reverted" from their trend towards 24mm objectives back to 20mm objectives in their 1.1-4 PM II line?

Ram the silence here is deafening no doubt. Sorta hard to believe no M4C SME's care to weigh in here, is Mark still the man up @ S&B in CT(?)

The LE 24mm tube is no longer listed on either the USA or DE (Germany) websites. However, the Zeinth hunting model 1.1x4 24mm is on the website.

The biggest difference apparently is the 4mm in the objective lense and the original Short Dot 1-4X 20mm is First focal plane vs the standard 2nd focal plane or standard reticle which does not change size when zooming in or out with magnification adjustments.

I am by no means an expert. I own the standard S&B SD 1-4X 20mm model with CQB reticle model. There are some members whom owned or still have the 24mm LE model here, including Molon. If you have any questions about the SD 1-4X CQB 20mm scope, let me know.

Otherwise, I would recommend calling S&B USA there are good folks there willing to offer assistance and information regarding their products.
