13.7 barrel with be Meyers flash hider

Does anyone have any experience with this setup? How does it run? I strongly believe in function over form and don't want to go through the trouble just to make it look good

I'm considering sending off my 6920 barrel for a 13.7 cut with a be Meyers pinned to make non NFA, since for a 16 I strongly prefer mid length.

Before I do I'm wondering if it's worth the trouble

Is 13.7 optimal in carbine or mid? I'd think carbine

Is there much of a difference in the way it handles?

Does the 13.7 add excessive flash?

Will doing this put more stress on moving parts or actually smooth things out since imo 16 is too long for carbine

Before this is mentioned I have no interest in a kx3 pig on this barrel. I'm looking at the Meyers or possibly surefire 3p flash hider

AR in question is free floated on a 13" bcm Kmr

    Thanks

I had a Ballistic Advantage 14.0" carbine gas with a Surefire 3P. Awesome shooter, no more recoil than my 6920. I think BA gassed it fairly lightly, as I no problems running all ammo types with only an "H" buffer on a carbine spring. And I never had any flash.

Digging a bit more comes up with the surefire 3p isn't long enough to make 16 on a 13.7 so it looks like I'm going the be Meyers route

I would ask if it shot smoother than the stock 6920 but if it was slightly under gassed comparison would be moot.

Did you think it handled better than the 16?

I believe you will need to use *at least* a .050'' shim to bring the overall length right to the 16 inch legal length. I personally would not cut it and if you must have a barrel under 16 inches, get a 14 or 14.5 inch length.

13.7 barrel with be Meyers flash hider

Primary arms is having a sale on the noveske 13.7 with a pinned gas block so I'm looking heavily at the idea.

Weaponoutfitters.com states the noveske 13.7 and 249FH is not NFA.

I'm just not sure I want to drop 350 on a new barrel either

Does anyone else find it odd the noveske 13.7 is mid length? Must be a reason beyond me

I love mine, low swing weight and very handy. I run a standard carbine buffer and have put probably 3K or so through this stick in varying conditions. Rarely cleaned and runs like a clock. It's safely over 16in.

Thank you! That's exactly what I'm looking at when finished

What type of barrel and gas length are you using?

Is it softer shooting then a 16" carbine?

I'm guessing the noveske mid is over gassed and the carbine is optimal but I'm between the 2 in a last minute decision, I think the sale ends shortly

Recoil is maybe a little more than my 16"...I don't know its a 556 gun so it seems to shoot flat enough for me.

    Noveske Infidel middy.

I don't shoot steel case through it. Cheapest ammo i run, and I run allot is the perfecta 223 from walmart.

I have not had a single malfunction, that includes about a thousand rounds between cleanings.

When I realized how much I liked the setup I set out to test it to determine if it would put up with the abuse I would expect my go to rifle to deal with, needless to say its within an arms reach much of the time.
