    >308 AR mags on sale at Brownells.

So I ordered an Aero Precision .308 upper for my SBR build. Then went web surfing and found a good deal on mags. I thought I'd let people know about it.

Brownells .308 AR mags on sale. $11.99 down from $19.99. I ordered 10. Reviews were mixed, but for 12 bucks a pop, I took a gamble. I've had good luck with their 5.56 mags.

Can you let us know how those work?

I can let you know, but not for a long time. Just buying parts for the build. It will be months before it's up and running.

Brownells 308 mags have had numerous reports of feeding issues. A friend ordered a few for his OBR, had nothing but problems and returned the mags. They swell slightly when loaded.

Yeah, I saw some of the reviews, but I also saw some good reviews, so I took a chance. They won't be my only mags, even if they work.

The issues my friend had were:

"Swelled when loaded, would not lock into magwell with bolt closed when at capacity, would not drop free or insert easily when loaded, feed lips rubbed bolt carrier when cycled, slowed or stopped forward motion of bcg"

Those are not good things to hear. They make their own don't they?

Until Brownells seriously overhauls these mags, they aren't worth getting.

I use Pmags and IMI mags for screwing about.

I keep my KAC and Larue mags as my "killin' mags".

I'm using an SR25 and cannot attest to other 308 AR rifles so YMMV

I also use LaRue and KAC mags as my go-to, with pmags for screwing about. Rifle is a LMT mws.

I had repeated failures to chamber with these mags. Eventually I spent an evening cycling some dummy .308 rounds through my AP AR-10 and discovered the follower will bind and stick in the rear, holding the round too low for the bolt to pick up. I'll get around to sending these back and getting more PMags soon.
