What is the bare minimum acceptable 1911?

I know very little about 1911's and am looking to purchase in the next few weeks/months. Not looking into something overly pricey but I want to steer away from junk. Doesn't need a rail or FDE cerakote. Just feeling out the acceptable 1911 area.

The definition of acceptable varies quite a bit based on the intended use of the gun. What role is it going to serve?

Colt prices right now on 1911's are very reasonable. They have high resale value.

Night stand, occasional carry, owb woods carry, range. Probably spend most of its time in the night stand. Which is why I'd like to stay 5-600 if not better.

It's more than you wanted to spend, but if you can snag a used TRP for a good price you absolutely will not be disappointed. I have occasionally seen them for under a thousand, but mine runs like a much, much more high dollar gun

Springfield Armory Mil-Spec and get a tritium front post staked on if you need some glow, getting the slide dovetailed will run a little more but it's stronger and brings more options. Good gun that can be built later if you want to.

Add a few hundred and you open doors to better equipped SAs and Colts.

Then I'd recommend buying a used 1911. I wouldn't personally bother with anything new in that price range as a night stand gun, which is a SD/HD pistol at that point.

Are they making them or is it someone else's gun they are advertising with their name on it?

This could be viable as well as the above mentioned.

Springfield? Not sure of current production.
For a time some of the frames were sourced from Imbel, may still be.

Used Colt 1991 for the $500-600 range is my 2 cents.
