Welder
Drill press
Sacrificial drill bit
Instructions:
Take your intended muzzle device and the drill bit, hold the drill bit against the end of the muzzle device so as to measure how deep you want to go into the barrel through the MD. say about 3/32 of an inch. Take a piece of tape and put it around the drill bit so when you drill into the muzzle device and barrel you will stop at the tape having gone that 3/32 into the barrel. Make sure you gauged the thickness of the device where you actually drilled through it. If it has a flat, that is a good place.
Take the muzzle device of and inspect you whole into the barrel, make sure it is in fact sufficient.
Put the device back on, line the two holes back up.
Take the drill bit you used, this will become your pin. Put the shank of the bit into the hole, and cut it to approximate length, give a little extra length to work with.
Put it back in the hole and try to rotate the muzzle device to make sure it is not going to come off. If you are good grind off the remainder of the drill bit shank so it is flush with the device.
Put a sport of weld on top of the pin to hold it all together.
This is the home bubba way to do it. It works, the finish will depend on your welding skill.
I still advocate rainier or ADCO if you want it really nice.
