Looks like the younger crew strongly favoring GJ:

Gary Johnson Leads In 18-24 Demographic Over Both Clinton and Trump.

When those polled were asked who they would choose to vote for between four candidates - the 4th being Jill Stein of the Green Party - Johnson came in first with 35%, with Clinton trailing with 30%. Trump placed 4th, once again, behind Jill Stein with 12% and 14% respectively.

It should be noted that the IBD poll is far more accurate than the McClatchy-Marist Poll, which means Johnson's standing with Millenials is far more prevalent than many thought.

What makes this interesting is that the youth is typically a left leaning demographic, with the Democrat party often putting great effort into attracting them through pop-culture, and showy activism. However, while both mainstream parties have seen a bleed of voters, this swing away from the Democrat party shows just how bad things have gotten for the left.

    And before anyone says it...

    Clinton's third-party headache

Polls show younger voters are taking a long look at the Libertarian and Green Party nominees this year. That could be a big problem for Hillary Clinton in a close race against Donald Trump.

A raft of new polls out this week carried almost unanimously good news for Hillary Clinton, staking the Democratic presidential nominee to significant leads over Donald Trump. But there’s one potential warning sign in these polls should the race narrow: Clinton’s lead over Trump shrinks when voters are allowed to choose one of the major third-party candidates in the race.

Yet the Libertarian Party’s presidential ticket — composed of former GOP Gov. Gary Johnson of New Mexico and former GOP Gov. Bill Weld of Massachusetts — appears to draw more from voters who might otherwise be aligned with Clinton, especially younger voters.

Well, I have a bitter taste in my mouth for the third party ever since Sarvis cost Cucinelli the election here in Virginia. Hopefully that article is correct and they siphon more from the left this time around.

WillBrink, you seem to have studied the Libertarian ticket this year more than I have. What's your take on William Weld's position on the Assault Weapons ban? I know Gary Johnson's position on things from my contact with him here in New Mexico, but Weld I have not studied.

For most Millennials, Libertarian = Legal weed. The rest is tl;dr

It's about the most useful thing Bill Maher has done is create the perception that the path to legal weed is through the LP. Would love it if the Sanders camp went full Johnson and was the deciding factor in a Trump victory.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

Weld is a FUDD. He's not anti gun and of the "I have been a hunter all my life" variety, but he did support the AWB. As you know, GJ has been the most consistent pro 2A politician of the three by far and on that issue, he and Weld don't agree, though Weld has made no noises about new gun laws and GJ has been clear he will not.

Nailed it. I live near a college town and the #1 reason most younger folks support libertarians around here is the concept that dope will be made legal. Ask them other important criteria, and they are clueless.

I'm just a Millennial in the circle of if it doesn't hurt anyone else, I could care less what you do. Yes I am pro pot legalization, and I don't smoke it because I never cared for the high. I would describe myself as fiscally conservative, socially liberal, who has voted Republican in every election I have been old enough to vote in. Trump represents nothing that I stand for or believe in. I'm above voting for a candidate based solely on party at this point.

No doubt partly true but it's not like they need the LP to get pro weed laws passed, etc. Most Millennials don't even know what the LP stands for, but then again, most people don't know chit about chit, such as Trump being pro AWB at one time and HC being anti gay marriage, etc. Even with the net at their fingers, too lazy and brain washed to go do a little homework. A few HC voters I know were stunned when I sent them a vid of HC stating marriage was between a man and a women. So, if Millennials vote for GJ thinking it's going to = an OZ of weed in every pot, fine by me.
